Chapter 4: Remembered and Red

Start from the beginning

She shook her head, thinking it may have been her mind playing tricks on her, before sitting on the windowsill, looking sadly up at the night sky. The cool air gently blew, causing goosebumps on her pale skin. Then she opened her mouth, starting to sing as more tears fell.

Hey there now

Where'd you go

You left me here

So unexpected

You changed my life

I hope you know

'Cause now I'm lost

So unprotected

In the blink of an eye

I never got to say goodbye

Like a shooting star

Flying across the room

So fast so far

You were gone too soon

You're a part of me

And I'll never be the same here without you

You were gone too soon

You were always there

Like a shining light

On my darkest days

You were there to guide me

Oh I miss you now

I wish you could see

Just how much your memory

Will always mean to me

In the blink of an eye

I never got to say goodbye

Like a shooting star

Flying across the room

So fast so far

You were gone too soon

You're a part of me

And I'll never be the same here without you

You were gone too soon

Shine on

Shine on

On to a better place

Shine on

Shine on

We'll never be the same

Shine on

Shine on

Like a shooting star

Flying across the room

So fast so far

You were gone too soon

You're a part of me

And I'll never be the same here without you

You were gone too soon

You were gone too soon

(Shine on shine on)

You were gone too soon

(Shine on shine on)

You were gone too soon

The two felines finished with the food and water after the song. She got up and put everything away and the cats meowed from the window at her. She crawled back onto the sill, and they climbed into her wide lap. She smiled sadly at the two while petting them and started to sing another song.

Life holds too much pain

My luck is fading away

Someone throw me a lifeline

The sun is bittersweet

I can't take all of this heat

Getting tough dealing with my mind

Feeling lost, I can't get out

I want to wake up but I don't know how

Stuck in a nightmare

But there's nobody there

Stuck in a nightmare

And nobody cares

In a nightmare

Hate to say goodbye

A storm cloud's absorbing the sky

Yesterday feels like a lifetime

Holding in my fears

My pillow's covered in tears

Scared for what's to come of my light

Feeling lost, I can't control

I wear a smile to hide my heavy soul

Caught in the dark, I can't get out

I want to wake up but I don't know how

Stuck in a nightmare

But there's nobody there

Stuck in a nightmare

And nobody cares

In a nightmare

It's hard to know I've got nowhere to go

Gazing through my window

It's hard to say my dreams are fading away

Crashing in the shadows

In a nightmare, In a nightmare

In a nightmare, In a nightmare

In a nightmare, In a nightmare

Feeling lost, I can't control

I wear a smile to hide my heavy soul

Caught in the dark, I can't get out

I want to wake up but I don't know how

Stuck in a nightmare

But there's nobody there

Stuck in a nightmare

And nobody cares

In a nightmare

As the last verse left her lips, her teary eyes slipped closed. After a few minutes, a shadowy figure stepped out on the branch level with her window, eyes flashing red in the darkness. The figure stood watching the female's slow breathing and the tears falling from her closed eyes. The shadow was off the branch and standing on the windowsill next to the female in an instant. It crouched down, looking closely at the female's face while brushing a tear, only for another one to replace it. The shadow's eyes flashed again...
