~ special mini chapter ~

"I think they look pretty on you. I wish I had one"

"Listen kiddos! We'll continue with art next week. We took a bit too long today and the bell is gonna ring in 5 minutes and then it's home time. So plesse pack up and clean up" teacher Kim said

They boys and girls cleaned up their cut up papers and packed the necessary materials away, making little to no noise doing so

"What's your name, Mr Spots?" Hyunjin asked, helping the boy pick up his papers

"U-Uh its Felix" Felix shyly responded, turning pink in the face

"Woah, I wish I had a name like that. My name is Hyunjin"

"Can I call you Hyunnie?" Felix asked, throwing away all the trash they had

"Yes! Everybody calls me Jinnie so it gets boring. Can I call you Lixie?" Hyunjin asked, putting his backpack on his back

"You'll be the first person to call me that. Some people call me Yongbok which is my other name but I don't like it" Felix explain, putting his own backpack on his back

They were interrupted by the bell ringing, signaling that school was over for the week

"Come, I wanna show you to my mommy!" Hyunjin said, taking the boy's hand and running with him

Areum awaited her son's arrival, sitting on a bench in the school lawn

She blocked the sun's bright rays with her hand, looking down at the time on her watch

"School should end in 3 minutes" She mumbled to herself, her eyes circulating the environment around her

It was tough for her, raising a little boy she birthed without his father in both of their lives, but it wasn't her fault

He just found a better woman

Her eyes layed upon a woman who seemed to be the same age as her as she said down beside her

"Do you mind if I sit here? I'm just waiting for my son" she spoke, pointing to the school building infront of them

"No, you can sit here. I'm waiting for my son aswell" she replied, smiling at the woman

She could have sworn her skin was melting, why was it so hot in spring? But that didn't cause her smile to dissappear

After all, her son loves hot spring days. His smile always challenged the bright sun and the small flowers couldn't compare to his cuteness

Maybe he got that from her, she loved spring too. She was born in the middle of spring and a flower field was the place she took her first steps in

She made sure it was the same way for him, that the first things he sees that he will remember is his mother carrying him in a sunflower field

Upon being distracted, the loud ring of the school bell snapped her back into reality

She let go of a breath she didn't know she was keeping in as she heard noise from inside the building

The entrance opened and out came many little kids and older children, running to their parents cars

Of course they were eager to go home, what kid would want to stay at school any longer on a Friday afternoon?

Her smile grew back as he saw two little kids

"Mommy!" Little Hyunjin exclaimed, running up to Areum

"Hyunjin!" She exclaimed, opening her arms for her son

"Momma!" Felix beamed, jumping onto his mom as she stood up

"Uppy! Uppy!" They both said, laughing as their moms picked them up and carried them on their backs

"Mommy, that's Felix! He's my new bestfriend!" Hyunjin beamed, kicking his feet as he pointed at Felix

"Momma, that's Hyunjin! He's my first boyfriend!" Felix exclaimed, pointing at Hyunjin with a wide smile on his face

"Boyfriend? You mean girlfriend silly!" Hyunjin replied, face palming himself

"But you're a boy and you're my friend. You're my boyfriend!" Felix said, jumping off of his mom's back, watching as Hyunjin did the same

"Mommy, can Lixie and I have a sleep over?" Hyunjin asked, clutching his hands together as he gave his mom puppy eyes

"Yes momma, can Hyunnie please come please by our house?" Felix begged, giving his mother puppy eyes aswell

Mrs Hwang and Mrs Lee looked at eachother and let out a light chuckle

"You guys just became friends but it's fine with me if it's fine with Hyunjin's mommy" Felix's mother said as she crouched down and patted his head

Hyunjin and Felix both looked at Hyunjin's mom and poked out their bottom lips, their eyes becoming even more starrier than before

"That's fine with me"

"Yay!" They both exclaimed at the same time, pulling eachother into a tight hug
