MIA

It had been four days since Lorenzo and I had become intimate, and I had noticed how overprotective he was being, constantly leaving his office to come and check on me.

Lily had clocked on too, and had dragged me along to the school to continue working on the renovation, which seemed to reassure Lorenzo, giving him peace of mind knowing I was in safe hands.

However, it was incredibly hard to concentrate, the voices of my Mother echoing through my mind, bouncing off my skull, causing pounding headaches and extreme fatigue.

I had had multiple visions of my Mother crying too, but they weren't as frightening as the one I saw when I was with Lorenzo, so I decided not to say anything. I was hoping they would eventually go away, not wanting Lorenzo to stress over me anymore than he already was. He needed to focus on his work.

His pack was suffering because of the amount of time he had been spending with me, their schedule a little out of whack, everyone a little all over the place.

Lily had told me that Lorenzo had cancelled multiple in person meetings since meeting me, and although it was her attempt to make me feel more loved and welcomed into the pack, I couldn't help but feel like my presence was detrimental to them.

"Excuse me, Miss Mia?"

I turned to see one of the children gazing up at me adoringly, causing me to smile, crouching down to their level. "Yes?"

"Is it true that you're going to be our next Luna?" the little girl asked, bouncing excitedly from one foot to the other, waiting for my reply. However, I didn't give one.

I gazed at the child, my mouth hanging open, shocked over what she had just asked me. How did she know?

Noticing my awkwardness, Lily rushed over, clearing her throat awkwardly, turning to the patient little girl. "Cassidy, I really need to speak to Mia, is that okay?"

Cassidy nodded shyly, skipping off, leaving me in the corner of the school playground with Lily, who sighed, rubbing the back of her neck, clearly agitated.

"I think a lot of people saw the way Lorenzo was acting with you at Natasha's party," she said sheepishly, giving me some time to digest what she had just told me, gaging my reaction.

"I thought most people would be too drunk to notice," I replied, deep down knowing that people were going to be talking about Lorenzo and I. News here clearly travelled fast and I couldn't blame the onlookers for spreading the news of what they had seen.

To them, the prospect of finally having a female leader to look up to other than Lily was exciting.

"You can just ignore anyone that asks you anything about it," Lily told me, causing a sudden spark of frustration to ignite from within me.

What was the point in hiding it anymore? Everyone knew that Lorenzo and I were together, and if I didn't confirm that we were mates, they would most likely just think I was a power hungry gold-digging female that was just after a title. No one would respect me.

"Why can't I just admit it?" I snapped at Lily, the words tumbling out of my mouth before I had even registered them myself, turning and entering the empty classroom. I settled myself down on one of the children's chairs, careful not to put all of my full weight on it in case it snapped beneath me.
