An old married couple felt the need for gingerbread cookies, so they put them in the oven. A mischievous fey was watching while invisible, and he decided to put a curse on one of the cookies.

The curse gave one cookie in the shape of a person the gift of life. He jumped out of the oven the instant it opened, and he ran outside.

He found grass that was long to him, and he decided to run through it. For some reason, there were flightless birds of prey hiding in the grass, and they tried to hunt him down.

He escaped all of them even though they were planning a sneak attack. Going out into the open, a pterosaur saw him and tried to eat him. It missed him when it swooped down, and he found a talking black bear that offered to let him get up a tree to hide.

The gingerbread man was stupid, so he accepted. The bear carried him up a tree using its mouth, and once it got out of reach of anyone else, it ate the gingerbread man.
