Emilia Santana:

The air was bitter and cold, just how Emilia had remembered. It differed to Spain's golden sun, to its warm hues and bright skies. New York was as dark as she had thought, its skies grey with morbidity, the clouds hanging deep like a warped frown. Nevertheless she smiled to herself, happy that she was finally home. Her father had finally called for her return despite sending Emilia away for so long. She didn't know how to feel knowing that she was back in her own city, at times this was all a far away dream. One she could only muster in her thoughts in nights of deep sorrow and longing, wanting to just be with her family again. Yet her father had called for her, he had finally found use for her.

'Miss Santana, your bags are in the car and everything is ready' announced her father's capo Dillion. His wide tanned hand was held out to his boss' daughter in reverence, hoping she would trust him enough to allow him the touch of it. In her absence, the underground world whispered and spoke of Andre Santana's daughter and where she had disappeared too. They named her the 'missing treasure' wondering if she was just a myth. No one knew of where she was, or even what she looked like in the time she was gone, all they cared for was a chance to be with her. 'You don't have to call me that Dillion, we grew up together' Emilia answered, rolling her eyes gently with a small playful smile dancing on her lips.

She had grown up with Dillion, he had joined her fathers organisation at the age of 15 after his parents died. She had known him all of her life and trusted him even more so. Emilia's eyes fell to his face, finally analysing his looks. His tasseled brown hair and brown eyes were the same, yet they held dark memories of things he had seen whilst she had been gone. She wish she could have spared him of that, she wished that they were children once again but they were not. He was capo now and her a princess of her fathers royal empire. His shoulders were strong and wide with a physique to match. Dillion had aged like fine wine. 'How have you been Dillion?' Emilia asked, aware that she had just been staring at him aimlessly for a few seconds. She couldn't believe that he had reached the title of capo in such a short time.

He enjoyed her informality, seeing that Emilia had not changed at all, her heart still warm and as kind as before. 'I have been well, your father has been good to me' he said in appreciation. He knew he didn't need to say it for her sake but because he truly meant it. He had dedicated his life to Andre Santana's organisation because it had saved him from something much more dark that itself. 'That is good, that is very good' Emilia huffed out adjusting to the extreme change in weather. It was gently snowing now as a fresh blanket of white snow formed beneath her feet.

'How are my brothers? Are they home?' Emilia asked Dillion as he escorted her inside the car. She hadn't spoken or seen them in years and yet her heart ached to be with her brothers again. She wished to know how they had grown, if they were still the same or blossomed into something else, all of this she felt robbed of. That was the most difficult part of leaving, it was leaving them behind, not knowing when they would next speak or see each other. 'Roderigo is here but your father sent Fabian on business to Chicago. He should return tomorrow' Dillion replied curtly, instructing the driver in Spanish to drive quicker.

'And what of my father... What is he like now?' she asked. Her heart clamoured restlessly at the question. The thought of seeing him again, unsure of whether time had hardened his heart or whether it was mellow enough for Emilia to be accepted into it again. Her father had always treated her well and despite his line of work, he always placed family first. Yet he still sent her away, he sent her away for years with no freedom or no point of contact. 'You don't need to worry Emilia, your father is just as he was before. He is more strict with your brothers, specifically Fabian but he has been elated for your return all week' Dillion assured the raven haired girl, his eyes meeting hers in reassurance in the mirror.
