Honey.

1 month 1 week later...

I sat up in my bed and looked around. Life was calm at the moment, other than the fact that i had a few bad burns (3 degree apparently). I had also fallen into a coma for 3 weeks straight. All in all i had suffered: a broken wrist, 2 cracked ribs, ankle fracture, several burns, and heavy blood loss but thankfully i had recovered drastically and was coming out of the hospital today! I looked out the window and sighed. Though people always complain about how hospital was a bore and smelly and just...cold... i thought of it as a sort of refuge, home at the least. Funny of how i thought of it in that way especially considering the fact that this was the only 'event' that enable me to stay overnight at the hospital. I was interrupted in my train of thought when people entered my room.

'Hello Honey, it's good that you're awake now I can tell you that you can leave the hospital today if you want. You have 10 minutes to collect your belongings and check out at the front desk, someone is waiting outside to assist you'

I had a visitor? From what i remember no one had come to see me the duration of the time i was in the hospital. I climbed out of my warm duvet and stepped bare footed onto the cool shiny ground. I walked over to my overnight bag and pulled out an outfit. 5 minutes later I sauntered over to the door and turned back. I looked thoroughly over ever little detail in the room and soaked it in. I was going to severely miss this place. Oh well I thought feebly and turned back to the open door. I walked out and saw 2 police men standing about 1 foot away from the door in the posture implying he was about to knock on my door. I raised my eyebrow at this. I didn't expect there to be anyone important. Behind him I saw Lamar standing with his hands firmly tucked in his trouser pockets staring at me sheepishly.

'Hello officer ?'I carefully set down my bags by feet sensing the intense atmosphere

'Hello Honey, I am detective sergeant Gaifield and this is my partner Detective inspector Brentson. Unfortunately we have some bad news. Your stepfather , Christopher Bentley, was killed in a car crash on the M25 . The car was set up in flames and the body has been cross examined, and we need you to identify the body if that in anyway is possible, we shall be in touch with you in the next few weeks...sorry for your loss.' Without another word the tipped there hats respectfully and turned on their heels obviously mentally preparing what was ahead of them.

'....' i was speechless, how many times had i imagined this. And yet i didn't feel anything. No relief, definitely no regret...just cold emptiness.

'Honey, I am so sorry, if it makes it any better to hear, Chris was a good man.'

I just stayed silent. i looked at him in the eyes staring him down until he looked away sheepishly. I bent downed stiffly lifting my bag back up and walking towards the lift. I didn't have to kook back to know Lamar was right on my heels. As i stepped outside there was a crack of thunder and seconds later rain pelted down as a dangerous speed. I stood rigid, looking up at the stormy grey cloudsas the rain ran smoothly down the planes of my face. Why hadn't the tears started. Shouldn't the rain have been washing away my tears ? I shook my head and to walk towards the bus stop.

'Honey, Honey wait up!' a voice shouted in the distance.

i turned around slowly to see Lamar was running through the rain with his hood done up so tightly his eyes and forehead were the only things visible. I had forgotten, in my haste, that Lamar was with me all along and had seen my cold hearted nature.
