How To Be A Teenager.
Being a teenager can be very complicated and scary, like proper hygiene, making friends, etc. It's important to know how to be one and what to do. Here are a few methods to help you get through your teenage years including the struggles that come with them.
Method 1: friends.
Friends are a very important aspect in everyday life. Who you surround yourself with can and will impact you. If you're changing your personality and how you act and what you do to hang out with a group of people, then they're probably not the right people for you. If you're hanging out with a group of people and they like your personality and how you act without having to present yourself differently, then they're probably the right people for you.
Method 2: hygiene.
Staying clean plays a massive part in being healthy. As a teenager, it's good to take care of your body because of the fact that you're going through changes you haven't gone through before.
Good hygiene for a teenager consists of:
1. Showering at least everyday.
2. Shampoo and conditioning every two to three days.
3. Brushing your teeth in the morning after breakfast, and in the evening after dinner.
4. Spraying/rolling on deodorant as well as antiperspirant everyday.
5. Taking care of your hair (if you have any), by brushing it everyday and getting a trim when it's necessary. Try to avoid dying your hair a lot, it can damage the cells.
6. Washing your hands before eating, touching your face, making food, and after using the bathroom, going outside, touching your face, and petting animals.
Method 3: interests.
The majority of teenagers like to have a variety of different interests and things they like to do. You might have different interests than other people and that's completely normal. It's okay to be interested in something someone else is interested in. However, don't be interested in something just because other people are interested in it, be interested in something because of the fact that you find it interesting.
Method 4: emotions.
Emotions can be very hard to understand and go through, especially when you're a teenager because the connections between the emotional part of the brain and the decision-making centre part are still developing- and not always at the same rate, which can cause sudden outbursts of emotions.
Coping strategies are a good thing to have when you're feeling emotional. Different strategies work for different people so it can be important to find ones that work best for you. Some coping strategies are: giving yourself time to think, focusing on your breathing, listening to music, reading a book, going for a walk, sleeping, exercising, talking to someone, ripping up paper, and just letting your emotions out. Whatever the reason you're being emotional, won't stick around forever. Just remember: if it's not going to matter in five years then it's not something you need to get upset about. In the event that you're still feeling emotional, then go to sleep and let your emotions bother you in the morning.
Method 5: school.
School is the thing I struggle with most as a teenager, so it pays to know how to survive it. Here is a list of tips to help you get through the nightmare that they call school.
1. Do the best you can do.
Being an A+ student can be great, however if you aren't, it doesn't matter. Don't focus on trying to be number one and having perfect grades, focus on where you're at and work on that. Do your work the best you can and if you only get forty eight percent on a test then who cares? All that you should care about is how hard you tried.
2. Respect your teachers.
Teachers help you learn all the things you might need in order to succeed in life. Without the hard work and dedication of teachers, learning new things would be a lot more difficult. Respect your teachers as a way to show gratitude and to say thank you.
3. Watch what you say.
It's always helpful to choose your words carefully and consider how they will affect the people or person in front of you. Watching your words at school can lead to staying out of trouble, building healthy relationships, making yourself a better person, and just having a better time.
4. Take care of your mental health.
Doing school work is important and all, however your mental health should come first at all times. Taking a break from school work when needed is a great way to protect your mental health. Too much work can affect how much you sleep, eat, smile, break down, and so much more. Don't slack off but don't overwork yourself as well as burn yourself out.
To summarise everything that has been stated so far, being a teenager can be a complex and hard time but with the right help you can push through it and move onto adulthood.
