Explanation (Part 1)

Carsein and I stay like that before a knock interrupted us.

"I better let the others have a moment with you." He said while chuckling.

He opened the door and greeted Aristia. Tia immediately hug me tight.

"Sister... Please come back safely."

"I will. Don't worry I'll give my best so that I'll be back before your debut." I said while patting her head.

Tia decided to help me prepare my things and while we were doing it silently-

"Hurry up." A voice rang in your room.

Annoying.

"I'm doing the fastest I can. Don't you have better things to do other than watching me pack up my things?" I said turning to Lucas.

"Being my apprentice you need to be used to this. And I need to know if you're really packing your things. He said

"I wonder how the Princess put up with you..." I muttered.

"Hah! That's because-"

"Forget it. I don't want to hear it." I cut him off.

"Are you two going to be okay? It seems that the two of you will always argue." Aristia said while helping me with my things.

"We're gonna be fine.... I think." I said whispering the last part before giving Aristia a smile to assure her.

"Do you need help with anything?" A voice suddenly rang.

"Papa!"

I don't know how long will I have to train under Lucas so might as well reconcile with Papa.

"Actually... Yeah, there is.... Could you get me another bag papa?" I ask.

"Sure thing." He said while bringing another big bag.

"I'm gonna go and see if the others are ready." Lucas said leaving the three of us.

We were all silent for a few minutes until Papa remind me of a few things.

"Y/n make sure you write us every 2 weeks. Don't forget to update us. Make sure you eat and be healthy. Don't pressure yourself and go with your own pace... And... And" Papa struggled with the next words.

Wow. He sounds like Mama

Aristia and I look at each other before turning to Papa.

"Oh no."

"Don't tell me... Oh Papa."

Who the hell is cutting onions here?! How dare they? They made him cry!

Papa tried to look at the other direction.

"Why are you crying?" I ask trying to take a peek while holding back a smile. It's not everyday you see a Marquess cry.

"Because of..." He paused.

Tia look at us then smile and shakes her head. I gave her a sign to leav us alone for a moment and fortunately she understands what I want.

"I'm going to prepare something. I'll see you off later, sister." She said giving a reason to leave the room.

I sat comfortably in my bed. before looking back to my father.

"Now tell me why are you crying." I said trying not to sound like I'm gonna tease him later.

"I wanted to apologise for everything you've been going through." He said.

It's not his fault why I... No, a part of him is the reason why I have to go through all of this.

"It's not entirely your fault." I said sitting in my bed.

"Still, I have a part on why you're experiencing all of this." He said while he wipe his tears.

"So where are you going to start? You've been terrible at being my father lately." I said chuckling slightly.

"At the banquet... The conversation you heard. It was mess up. Before the upcoming of age event the Emperor already send me a letter. It consists of you being poisoned at our own manor. It was my fault thinking that you'll be safe within our manor leaving you two girls with no knights... It was also the reason why our enemy from the different factor saw a chance of destroying our house. They meant to eliminate you, Y/n." He said.

I have figured that out. But why me? Not my father? Or Aristia who's Ruveliss fiancee.

Something doesn't add up.

"If they have succeeded in eliminating you. It would be the end of our family because once they take you out of this world there'll be no more heir for the Monique Clan. Therefore I have concluded that they may take their eyes off you once they learned that you're not the heir. I wasn't really going to arrange a marriage for you but..." He stopped.

"But what?" I ask tilting my head curious on why he stopped.

"You started on making a name. Your idea about the metallic ship circulated the city very fast. The aristocrats were once intimidated by you. They saw you as a threat because of how genius you are. So news about you not being the heir died down as they saw that you're proving yourself to be the rightful heir of our name."

"And that's where you thought of marrying me to someone whom I don't love?" I ask.

"It was the opposite factor who thought of that. They have said that you're in the right age to marry. But we only know 4 young men who's around your age. Prince Ruveliss, Sir Carsein, Sir Allendis, and Sir Raven."

"Sir Raven? You mean the son of the notorious Duke from Llistician Empire?"

Raven Noam?!

That guy was known because of his midnight hair and soulless orbs. You can also add the fact that he has a specific way to end someone's life. Infact I would rather die than to be with that guy. So him as a partner would be a big no!

"I thought of 2 candidates that would pass as your partner the Prince and Sir Carsein. As everyone knows the two gentleman is your childhood friend-"

"Why would the Emperor agree that Ruveliss could be a good candidate for my hand?" I cut him off with my question.

"That is because the High Priest believe that you could also be an oracle child."

"Again? With that name?"

He nodded.

"But I heard that the other candidate was not from this empire. Which is Sir Raven, am I right?" I ask.

If they thought that Carsein is a good candidate for my hand then why did the real Y/n said not to marry the guy from the other empire?

"It is not in the plan. I never considered the idea that Sir Raven will be your fiancé. Knowing the ways of the Llistician empire it is better to not you get involve but the aristocrats said that it'll be good for our empire if you marry the Sir. Raven as he is the next Duke of that empire."

"So in other words they're trying to get rid off me by sending me to another empire? How fool are they?" I said chuckling before letting papa to continue

"That news immediately get to the Llistician empire. They were intrigued by the idea of meeting you but do not worry, my child. The Emperor already decline the meeting. We'll be waiting until you're fully ready."

I gave a sigh of relief.
