19. STITCHES OF LIFE

Start from the beginning

"Here. Done" She said as she caressed the little girl's hair.

"But it didn't hurt?" Jennie said in confusion as she saw her knee. Her freinds told her that it will hurt very much but to her confusion it didn't. She looked up to her mother for giving her an answer , a very confused expression on her face.

"Because you're my strong child" Jennie's mother said laughing and lifted Jennie in her arms. Jennie nodded happily with a proud smile on her face.

"Mom! I should get nini out" She said and ran into her dad's room, completely forgetting about her injured knee.

"Okay!! Nini should get a bath. And you too!!" Jennie's mother said.

"Nooo wayyy!!" Came Jennie's voice as she giggled and roamed all around the house with the plush toy tucked in between her arms.

Jennie's mother ran behind the little girl playfully as if she can't catch her.

"You are such a Mandu" Jisoo said teasing her but she frowned when Jennie closed her eyes reminiscing the past moments with her mother. The memories are like stitches that whenever come loose , makes the wound bleed again.

But soon opened them as she wanted to live in the present and she didn't wanted to think about her mother after the incident on the cliff. Only hatred was left in her heart now , for her mother and no sweet moments from the past could erase the stinging pain she still feels in her heart after 14 years.

"I told you not to call me that" Jennie said playfully glaring at her. They both ended up laughing.

But what Jisoo couldn't notice were the mixed emotions in Jennie's smile. Sad smile due to the painful memory of her mother and happy smile due to Jisoo's presence.

"You scared me Jennie. Don't travel alone late night"

Jennie nodded in response. She knew how dangerous things could have turned out if Jisoo wasn't there. Her gaze turned to her bag as she remembered the incident that happened tonight. Why are all her painful memories haunting her again and again tonight?!

Jennie stepped out of the bus.

"Don't you want to know what happened to your father" The old man said. She kept on walking ignoring him.

"W-What?" The mention of his father , made her steps freeze.

"The forensic report were all false. Things don't end up that easily as you see them ending in front of your eyes. Your father didn't died. He was murdered".

The sudden information , made Jennie shocked. Why does this incident keep coming to her life again and again? Why? She wanted to forget it all ! She decided about this , the day his father was buried that she will bury these unpleasant memories too!! So why the world keep throwing her into the unsolved mystery again and again.

"I - I don't believe you" Jennie said. And started walking away. She was running away from the harsh truth. She didn't wanted to face the reality. Sometimes It's nice , not to learn the truth, to run away from reality and live in the world you have made for yourself.

"Don't you believe the dead and decayed skeleton that was found deep down in the ocean 10 years back ?Huh? Don't you think why the body didn't flow and ended up being stuck in the ocean?" He asked much to Jennie's dismay.

"N-No ! D- Don't" Jennie shouted and shut her ears with her shivering hands as glances of her father's dead body started displaying in her mind. Her eyes shutted close.

"There was a rope tied on the leg if you noticed or was it taken out before you could find out the truth? You now why? Because everything was planned. The death was planned. And well executed." He said laughing.

Jennie stood there frozen. Her father didn't died. He was killed. As much as she didn't wanted to learn the truth she can't ignore what she just heard.

"But you know what? It wasn't your father who was supposed to die. The death was planned for you!! It was you who was supposed to die. It wasn't him. You killed your father." He said. Jennie was shocked and overwhelmed.

"Lie. Y-You are lying. I didn't k-killed my father. N-No" She said breaking down.

One after another , an unknowing truth and an unfolded memory was revealed to her.

"Why are you doing this to me? P-Please stop" She said and slapped the man.

She didn't wanted to listen anymore. She didn't wanted to learn another harsh truth about her father's death. She didn't wanted to turn back to the past and to the memories she had dug deep inside her heart.

"How dare you slap me , you fucking whore" He shouted and punched Jennie hard making her stumble and fall on the ground , her mask and cap separating from her face.

She lied there on the ground. She didn't wanted to stand up on her own. She was tired. Tired from this world that keep throwing things into her already messed up life. She smiled remembering her father and tears started rolling from her eyes.

These memories were the stitches in her life. You may heal it but you can't erase it . Stitches always leaves a scar. A scar in the heart that one could never erase.

She could see Jisoo running upto her. She tiredly closed her eyes wishing this was her last time.
