Chapter 19 : Pranksters meet

Bryan POV:

"Shhh, it's okay. It's okay. You can keep hugging me as long as you'd like" I couldn't stop myself from crying, it hurt so much. "This isn't a trick, it's you. Right?" "It is, now just breathe. You're okay and I'm not dead. Kayla's still alive too so you owe her your promise." I laughed but it was hard with my tears. I let go of Quinny and looked at her. She wore blue jeans and a white hoodie lined with magenta threads. Her hair was magenta pink and in twin braids. She also wore tennis shoes and had a white and pink backpack. And just like me, she had flames floating around her, but instead of purple like mine, hers were magenta. There was something about her that confused me though. Quinny noticed and nervously smiled. "Yeah, if you noticed how I looked older than I should, you are correct in making that assumption. Kayla's going to be 15 instead of 9 and I'm gonna be 13 instead of 7. Our minds also matured too, so Kayla is a total teen. I was confused for a few minutes but then I said, "You know what, after everything I've seen and done. I'm not surprised anymore." Quinny grinned. She said, "Speaking of age, how old even are you right now?" It took me a minute to answer because I actually forgot for a moment. "Me? Gonna be 27 in a month or so." She blinked and mumbled something I couldn't hear. "Um, what did you say Quinny?" She glanced back at me and said, "Oh sorry. That was me silently celebrating you not being an old man when we found you." I stared at her and then just shook it off. I felt two dark energies approach, and I knew who was behind me. "Um, Bryan. Who are they?" I sighed and reached into one of my pockets, grabbing what looked like a dog treat, and said, "Hey Lolli, if you want the treat." I stopped and grinned, "Get Shadow and Quinny." They both yelled, "WHAT!?" And right when they both yelled, Lolli barked and started chasing after them both. In the end, Lolli got Shadow pinned on the ground while Quinny was clinging to the entrance wall. I laughed as Lolli whined and tilted her head, waiting for Quinny to come down. Holding onto the wall for dear life Quinny yelled, "BRYAN! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!" Shadow slowly raised his one hand while shaking and said, "I would like to second that. Now Lolli, GET OFF!" Lolli looked down and barked. Shadow yelling clearly didn't help him. I laughed again and whistled. Lolli's ears perked and she pranced over to me. I held the treat over Lolli and said, "Siiit." She sat down and barked. She started to pant and her purple eyes gleamed with excitement. When I looked at her, she looked like a normal wolf. The only things that were different from a regular wolf was how sleek her fur was and her purple eyes. I kept holding the treat for a few more minutes, one thing that I'd been making sure to teach Lolli, patience. Once satisfied, I dropped the treat and Lolli caught it in her mouth. Shadow got up and began to yell at me. "BRYAN! WHYYY?!" I acted oblivious and said, "Why what?" Quinny finally jumped down once she realized it was safe. She then yelled at me as well. "YOU KNOW WHY YOU JERK! THAT THING TRIED TO MURDER ME A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO!" Shadow, in surprise, turned to look at Quinny. I was equally surprised and before I said anything Shadow asked, "Hold on, THAT WAS YOU!?" I spoke before Shadow got even angrier. "Quinny. Don't tell me that you were the one that found me and Shadow's place." Quinny nervously laughed and said, "Maaybe. Me and Kayla went exploring a couple of weeks ago, and I tripped on a rock that turned into a bigger version of that. Anyway, who's he?" She pointed at Lolli and Shadow. Lolli just tilted her head in confusion while Shadow stared. I pinched my nose and sighed, "Lolli's our guard dog and that's Shadow. He's probably the only reason I'm still alive. Although, I have a hunch for why Lolli attacked you and Kayla." "And what would that be?" Asked Shadow. "When Lolli's sleeping she's a rock, remember Shadow? The reason she was chasing you and Kayla was probably because you woke her up at a very inconvenient time." Shadow teleported next to Quinny and said, "Yeah, that's your own fault kid. Next time you go into a void, watch your step." Quinny shuddered. "Yeah, now I get the warning. Although, odd question." I raised my hands and said, "Odd answer, shoot." Quinny sighed and folded her arms, shivering. "Why does this place feel darker than before? There's so much grief and pain, I can sense it." I brought both of my hands down and stared at Quinny. Shadow appeared next to me and Lolli flattened her ears while whimpering. Quinny looked at all three of us in confusion, "What's going on? Bryan?" Her voice began to fill with fear. (Bryan, she doesn't know yet. I know, and she has a right to know what's going on. But Bry, how will it affect her? She may have seen a lot and stuff, but she's still a kid. Then we'll help her.) After some slight disagreement Shadow reluctantly said yes. I sighed and approached Quinny, putting my right hand on her left shoulder. "Quinny, there was always sadness here. It's just gotten more noticeable, and worse. The portal's doing strange things." She looked up at me in despair, "Is there any way to help everyone here?" This was the hard part, but I knew Quinny would be fine once she realizes that there is no way around the pain here. She'll be fine, "Quinny, there sadly isn't and we have no right to interfere. We can be here and talk with them because they're friends, but we can't interfere in ways that make it look like we're holding their hands. Okay?" She nodded. Everyone was silent and to change the topic I said, "But I do have a question for you. Did you tell anyone other than Kayla since she was there?" She blinked and said, "Wellll, Stravo did find out, BUT THAT WAS ONLY BECAUSE WE WERE AT OTSO'S PLACE WHEN WE WERE RUNNING AWAY FROM LOLLI! We had to tell him, but so far, he hasn't told anyone else. He has been keeping an eye on the coordinates, so if you and Shadow go back, he'll know." Lolli rubbed herself against Shadow's leg while he patted her head, "Bryan, I like this place, but we can't stay here forever. And it's only a matter of time before Stravo says something or the Coalition finds our void themselves. Lolli won't be there to stop them." I looked at Shadow and this was one of the only times I saw him scared or worried. I glanced back at Quinny and an idea popped into my head. "Quinny, would Stravo tell you and Kayla, or the Coalition first?" She looked surprised but answered, "He would tell us. Stravo may tolerate the Coalition, but he still doesn't trust them enough to tell them where you live. If they knew, they would have come in guns blazing." I smiled, "And even though Lolli isn't there right now, she's not our only defense. Whenever someone other than us teleports into our void, they always teleport into the black void connected. Right Shadow?" Shadow's eyes widened, "Which is covered with void creatures, BRYAN, YOU'RE A GENIUS!" Quinny looked at us in confusion, "What's your idea?" I grinned, "Let's call this a little prank. If the Coalition does find out, they'll have the time of their lives." Quinny was still confused so Shadow further explained, "You see, after years of being with the monsters in the void. We've figured out how to train them slightly. So now, we can tell them that no one is food. But they are allowed to chase around anyone that's not you, Kayla, and us." Quinny's eyes widened and then began to glow with excitement, "We're showing them a harmless prank. I don't think you would have ever had the idea to prank someone or even be willing to before Bryan." I laughed, "Well I have had to do odd things to get out of strange situations. This is just a normal Tuesday at this point. But Quinny, do you think that you could get Stravo and Kayla into my place? I think they would both like to join us in our prank." Quinny's eyes gleamed even bright than before, she raised her right hand in a salute and said, "YES SIR! I'll get them there and then Kayla can punch you." "Hold on, wat?" I nervously laughed, "Heh, almost forgot about that. It's a promise that I made Kayla right before I met you." Shadow looked at me and then glanced back at Quinny. "Hey kid, how long before they notice you're gone?" Quinny looked at her hands and began to mouth counting with her fingers. She answered, "Probably 2 more hours and then they'll start looking." I looked at Shadow and he had a grin on his face that I recognized. "Shadow, what are you planning?" Shadow looked at me and shrugged, "Oh you know, just all the possibilities and ideas for this prank, QUINNY!" Quinny turned and straightened herself yelling, "YES SIR!" "My dear, we are going to have a little bit of fun. COME, we shall plan our deception and attack." Shadow walked towards the hotel with Quinny trailing behind him. Lolli stayed with me and sat beside me. "You don't wanna follow girl?" Lolli tilted her head and I took that as a no. "It seems that we have either the whole two hours or one hour to just the both of us, don't we?" Lolli barked and started to pant. I smiled and turned towards the entrance, "Why don't we explore outside the park?" Lolli whimpered. "Don't worry, I'll stay in the woods or around the walls, deal." Satisfied, Lolli barked with excitement and we began to walk outside the park and explore. (Seems like the world is getting more adventurous and excited than I thought, but this time, I'm making sure to protect Quinny and Kayla with all I have.)
