"Yes," you blurted out, "yes, I — I'll tag along. Would be glad to."
Gerard grinned, "Great! How long do you think you'll take to get ready?"
"Like, uh, ten, fifteen minutes?"
"I'll wait out here for you then."
"Wonderful," you gabbled, before closing the door, and leaning against it, whilst your legs shook.
What the fuck did you just agree to?
-
Fuckshitfuckshitfuckshitfuckshit—
You sat in the back of the car that Brian Scheuter was driving, whilst Gerard was in front with the driver; you were sweating lightly, whilst fiddling with your fingers anxiously. "So you guys will be back by one thirty by the least, right?" Brian asked, parking the car momentarily, to let you two out.
"Yeah," Gerard replied, "don't worry, we're just gonna have something to eat and wander around, nothing else."
"Sure, just be careful," the manager stated, before flapping a hand, "now get out of my car, I got shit to do."
You slid out of your seat slowly, and stepped onto the pavement carefully, tightening your grip on the scarf you'd snatched before leaving. Did this count as a date? You hoped not, as much as you did want it to be, that would just mess things up further.
Fucking hell, you were going to be running around a strange city with a rockstar that you'd idolised as a teenager. This couldn't be happening. This had to be some kind of weird dream.
Gerard waved the car off, as it left, before turning to you with a bright grin, "So, where to? Do you just wanna walk around for a bit, find a place to eat?"
You shrugged, trying to be as nonchalant as possible, "Uh, sure. I'll... follow your lead."
He nodded, and started to walk, with you ambling alongside him, whilst looking around at the city around you. To be honest, it wasn't nearly as big as you thought it would be, rather it was even smaller; there was barely anybody around, and there only seemed to be tiny, one-off stores, filled with odd bits and bobs, like something out of an indie movie.
"I didn't expect it to be so small," Gerard spoke, voicing your thoughts somehow.
"Yeah," you agreed, looking at a broken lamppost, "it reminds me of Watertown."
"Watertown's like this?" he asked, slightly surprised, "I knew that it was small, but is it run down as well?"
"Mhmm," you peered through a shop window for a second. "Wait, so you went to art school, right?" you questioned, turning to him; you froze, finding him right next to you, oddly close.
"Yeah," he replied, looking at you, lifting his sunglasses to place on his head, so he could make proper eye contact with you.
Fuck, he had pretty eyes.
"Uh," you swallowed anxiously, and continued your query, despite your nerves, "what do you do at art school? Is it just drawing, or is it like sculpting and photography as well?"
"Well yeah," Gerard answered, "you do a lot of stuff, it all depends on the teacher. I mean, I really wanted to be a comic book artist, so I focused more on that style of drawing."
"That's so cool!" you encouraged, hoping you could spur him on in some way so that he could create The Umbrella Academy later on; god knew how much you'd fucked up just by existing, so you were trying to at least propel some things. "Why didn't you continue with that?"
"Well, y'know," he half chuckled, "some people don't like your ideas. I worked at Cartoon Network for a bit, but none of my pitches really took off."
"That's disappointing," you observed, standing up straight, and beginning to stroll again. "What were your pitches? If you don't mind telling me, of course,"
