Let me start with, Chinese Water Dragons have by far the most personality of any lizards I have owned or interacted with prior in my life. They love, love.

They can be amazingly chill and affectionate too. They are curious, and always interested in what's going on outside of the enclosure and my female, well she is always up for a cuddle.

They can also be cantankerous assholes if left unattended, unsocialized, or don't get "their way"

So make sure you stay sociable with them and they're well-fed.

My male loves to bite me if he feels he hasn't gotten his way. Meaning to eat, all day long. So, I get it and deal with them patiently. They just have lizard brains, and I am a human after all with a bigger brain, that knows better.

I occasionally have to leave my male in a "time out". Which consists of a separate holding area that has water, and islands, and is used as a soaking tank for them. I separate him for ten minutes or so, and he usually has a change of attitude.

Plus, it keeps him hydrated, and the skin-peeling process is easier for them as well. She gets her soaks too, but I think she prefers to bathe without her mate overseeing her and she has never had a timeout to this day.

They are so unique, in that they feel love, they show affection, and care for their partners and their children in tending to their needs too. They look after the babies, grooming each other and even disciplining the young hatchlings from biting, each other.
