In Apartment 503 next door, Matchmaker Zhang Chunlan was feeling restless all day long.

In the morning, she had a heated argument and even took herself to the police station. When she returned, she became the subject of ridicule, especially by the young girl in Apartment 502. It felt like everyone was laughing at her, and it left her feeling deeply aggrieved.

Refusing to admit her own faults, she began spreading rumors, claiming that Yu Xue had poor manners and must have provoked Xu Feng from Apartment 501. She couldn't understand why Xu Feng would bother with her without any reason.

"I didn't see her doing any work. She just hides at home all day, ordering so much takeout and receiving numerous deliveries. I don't even know who is paying for it all!"

Zhang Chunlan would say this to anyone she came across in the community.

"That sounds like a lot of money being spent."

"Exactly. And I don't even know if the money is clean," Zhang Chunlan said mysteriously. "Do you remember the hoarding incident the other day? Normal people would just stock up on vegetables, meat, milk, and such. But what did she do? She drove a small three-wheeler and transported goods by truck. Can someone do that without money?"

People in the community were fascinated by the gossip, especially a few young troublemakers who were particularly interested in knowing whether Yu Xue was wealthy or not, and if she was single.

Zhang Chunlan felt her heart skip a beat when she saw their interest.

Those people were known troublemakers. They relied on their parents to buy homes in the community and didn't have any proper jobs. Rumor had it that they were involved in some shady business.

When Zhang Chunlan returned home, she felt uneasy. The faces of those people kept replaying in her mind. She wondered if they were eyeing Apartment 502.

She felt a mix of worry, excitement, anticipation, and other emotions that she couldn't quite understand.

That evening, she pretended to be busy, but ended up overcooking the food, much to the annoyance of her daughter-in-law.

Ignoring the complaints, Zhang Chunlan stayed alert and listened carefully throughout the night. At around 7 o'clock, she heard sounds of things being smashed and fierce barking from Apartment 502. Her excitement grew, but after a while, everything fell silent again.

Could it be a burglar?

She peered through the peephole in her door, but couldn't see anything happening in Apartment 502 diagonally across from her.

It wasn't until after 11 o'clock when she saw two shadows near the door of Apartment 502 through the peephole!

"!" Zhang Chunlan almost shouted, covering her chest in excitement.

For a moment, the thought of calling the police flashed in Zhang Chunlan's mind, but when she remembered Yu Xue's cold gaze, she cursed herself for being foolishly concerned about her grandson's fever. She gritted her teeth, feeling that whatever happened to Yu Xue was well deserved.

"What are you doing out here?" Zhang Chunlan's husband suddenly spoke up from behind her. Startled, Zhang Chunlan quickly pulled him back into the house, saying, "Nothing. I couldn't sleep in the middle of the night. Let's go to bed."

She pushed him into the bedroom and closed the door, afraid that her husband might overhear what was happening outside.

However, the two shadows outside Apartment 502 were not what Zhang Chunlan had imagined; they were the gangsters she had been suspicious of.
