"Where's Gerard?" Lindsey interrupted the momentary pause, peering around.
"Gone to the toilet, he should be back soon," Ray answered, rolling a dice onto the board.
Frank somewhat adopted an expression of annoyance at her query, as if she was trying to steal Gerard from him — to be fair, it wasn't too far from the truth. To distract him, you gave him a nudge, and pointed towards the book titled 'Spells' questioningly, and he showed you eagerly, and explained in a low voice how it corresponded to the game.
"Mikey, it's your turn," Ray told the blond man, and the younger Way brother rolled his dice, with a small mumble. "Okay, so you get hit a bit by the troll, but you don't die — which is the one good thing. Other than that, you break your arm, so take away five of your health points."
"Shit," Mikey cursed, scribbling out a number on his page.
"Damn, does that mean I have to do something now?" Frank whined, "I don't have a lot of strength points left!"
"As long as you get below a six, you'll live," Ray told him.
"It's a twelve sided dice, dude!"
It occurred to you, watching them interact now, that these boys were absolute nerds.
It was cute.
Kitty and Lindsey didn't seem to share the enthusiasm; the bassist was impatiently waiting for her future hubby to turn up, whilst the drummer had taken to looking through the mini fridge, and seeing what food she could steal. You watched Ray, Frank and Mikey as they played, not fully understanding the activity, but just enjoying seeing them interact with each other was entertaining enough.
The door opened, all of a sudden, and everybody looked up towards the entrance — except for Mikey, who was deeply engrossed in figuring out how not to die in the game — Gerard walked in, adjusting the belt around his jeans, and wearing sunglasses for some reason.
"Finally! Get over here, we're dying," Frank exclaimed, flapping a wild hand.
Before he could continue with his complaining, Lindsey stepped forwards, half slipping on the spellbook on the floor (much to Ray's displeasure). "Hey, how're you doing?" she questioned Gerard, instantly walking over to him.
Kitty had to hide her gigantic grin, whilst Frank folded his arms and glowered; Ray coughed in embarrassment, and Mikey barely reacted at all. You huddled in on yourself, in a self protective fashion, sensing a change in atmosphere that you didn't quite like.
"Yeah, I'm good, how are you?" Gerard responded politely.
"I'm fine! What did ya have for breakfast? I thought the menu was kinda shit," Lindsey immediately pulled him into a discussion, tossing her pigtails in a perky manner.
Frank looked like he was about to blow a fuse, stony faced with irritation — you gave him a small pat of consolation, which you doubted did anything. Ray cleared his throat, before continuing weakly, "So, uh, the troll's critically injured, but you guys need to get some medical attention... and you can't fight since you're both practically dying."
"Thanks to Gerard," Frank muttered darkly, sparing a glare at the two musicians who were talking.
You glanced momentarily at them too; you found Lindsey to be up close, all in Gerard's personal space, whilst he looked completely oblivious to the flirting she was engaging with. A steaming pile of jealousy built up in your stomach, for some reason, and you quickly looked away.
Why were you upset? Things were taking its natural course, this was supposed to be happening.
Then, Mikey spoke, without moving an inch — "Gee, come here, we need to finish the game." His tone was firm, but not demanding, one that you'd assume he'd use when addressing his brother.
