I walked out into the hall with a ridiculous grin on my face.

"Hey Phil, why are you so happy?" PJ asked as I met him and Chris in the hallway.

"I talked to Dan!" I half squealed. Both their mouths dropped open at this.

"H-he actually talked?" Chris stammered.

"Well, no I spoke and he wrote." I conceded.

"Still," PJ admitted, "He's never done that to anyone before so thats something."

"I kinda invited him to eat with us at lunch, I hope that's okay?"

"Sure, like we said before we've always wanted to talk to him."

"What do you have first?" Chris asked, changing the subject.

"Double art. What about you guys?"

"Health and math." Chris replied.

"Science double for me."

"I'll show you where art is, it's in the same building as health."

"Thanks." We waved goodbye to PJ and made our way over to the arts block. In the middle of a conversation about Pokemon something suddenly occurred to me.

"Hey Chris,"

"Yeah?"

"What year are you in?"

"Thirteen, you?"

"Same. Do you know what year Dan's in?"

"I think he's in year thirteen as well." We reached the art block and I consulted the timetable in my hands to find my class.

"This is me," Chris said, pointing over his shoulder to the door behind him.

"I'm down the hall, see you." I replied walking off. I opened the classroom door just as the bell went. I glanced around the room and sat in the only spare seat, next to a boy with bright blue eyes and a brown quiff. The teacher started handing out worksheets and I leaned over to the boy.

"Do you know what we're doing?" I asked him.

"We're taking a photo of our choice and turning it into a media of our choice." he mumbled, kind of shyly, in an obvious Australian accent.

"Thanks, I'm Phil, by the way."

"Troye." he replied. We got talking through class and I discovered that Troye was actually really cool once you got to know him a little. I found out that he had moved out here a year ago from Australia. I also found out that he loved music and even wrote his own songs.

"What do you have?" I eagerly questioned.

"Well I've got three; Happy Little Pill, Gasoline and Touch."

"Those sound really good." I enthused. Just then I heard a small beeping and Troye quickly checked his phone. He smiled and bit his lip at whatever he read.

"Oooh, does someone have a crush?" I teased, smiling at him. He looked at me and blushed a furious red.

"Well actually... they're kinda.. I mean I..." He stuttered.

"I'm teasing Troye, you don't have to tell me." I relented.

"No it's okay, it's just... he's kinda my boyfriend." he almost whispered, probably hoping I wouldn't hear. I absorbed this new information and broke out into a smile.

"If you're worried I would judge you then you can relax, I don't really care."

"Really?" he asked, breaking into a smile. I nodded.

"If I'm honest, I think I might be bisexual, because I'm not really attracted to either." I pondered. I'd been thinking about this for a while but Troye ws the first person I had told outside of my mom. I felt I could trust him though since he was gay as well. "So who is he, may I ask?" Troye blushed slightly at this and replied;

"His name's Tyler and he's pretty great. He's originally American and moved out here only two years ago. You've probably seen him around; he's hard to miss." I raised my eyebrows questioningly at this last part and Troye laughed.

"See he has a quiff like mine," he continued. "But it's blue. Bright blue."

"Really?" I asked, still smiling. He nodded and I thought hard. "I'm not sure."

"I think I have a photo." Troye cut a look at the teacher before pulling out his phone again. He found what he was looking for and showed me the screen. On it was a grinning boy of about my age with blue eyes, thick rimmed glasses and, sure enough, a bright blue quiff. He practically screamed gay but in a good, fabulous way.

"I think I've seen him."

"I wouldn't be surprised." Troye smirked. "He's really funny and sweet." he added, almost to himself.

"Is he in our year?" he nodded.

"So, um, are you guys public or.."

"Well we don't really have many friends who we would tell and Tyler's not a fan of PDA so we never, like, said straight out that we were a thing but we never made any effort to hide it."

"Excuse me boys," a sudden voice behind me caused me to jump. I turned to see our art teach, Mr Collins, standing there glaring at us. "Are you doing any work?"

"Yes sir," Troye replied, turning his sketch pad around so that Mr Collins could see it. He nodded and walked off. I let out a breath and looked at Troye. As soon as we made eye contact we burst into laughter. This was great. Two periods in and I was already having the time of my life.
