When I arrived in the living room, Mom and Katherine were already chowing down on pizza. You've got Mail, some movie from the nineties, was on.
Katherine handed me my pizza box, and I dug in.
An hour into the movie, the pizza was gone. At least, mine was. Pizza is life.
"Do we want dessert?" Mom asked.
We shook our heads. My stomach was full. Pizza Hut was very filling, especially when you're eating an entire pizza.
The movie went on for a while more, and then the credits rolled. Katherine immediately put in another movie, one I didn't bother to see the title of, and we watched it.
It was boring. Very cliché. Two out of five stars. It would have only been one, but the lead guy was gorgeous.
After another two movies, we made the dreaded switch from rom coms to sappy movies. To be honest, I wasn't in the mood to deal with Katherine right now, but then again, I never was. What could I do to get out of this? Pretend I was getting an important call from Rory or Bee? Nah. Fake an illness? That was my best idea, so it would have to be that.
I clutched my stomach. "Mom? I don't feel so well. I think I need to go to bed."
She looked up from the TV. "Do you need medicine?"
I shook my head. "I'm just going to go to bed. Night."
Making my getaway, I walked slowly out of the room, holding my stomach. Once I was out of sight, I sprinted up the stairs to my bedroom.
It was currently 12:03 am. The only thing I could do right now was to go to sleep. In a way that was good, because it meant I wasn't totally lying to my mom.
I climbed into my bed and snuggled into my blankets. It felt good to sleep in my own soft mattress, with my warm fluffy blankets and my pillow.
Boy am I being sentimental.
I fell asleep quickly, and thankfully slept through any loud sobbing Katherine might have done.
The next morning, I woke up to someone flicking my forehead. With a groan, I turned around so that my forehead was on my pillow. That didn't stop whoever was flicking me though, as they just began flicking the back of my head.
I reached back and smacked their hand. Didn't they notice I was trying to sleep?
"Good morning dweeb. Mom told me to get you up." Percy said.
I rolled onto my back and sat up. "How nice of you to wake me up in such a polite manner. Mom must be so proud."
Percy smirked. "I try. Mom wants you to get up and get dressed. She's making us spend a family day together so that you and her can get to know Melody."
A family day. We hadn't had one of those in a while. Mom usually brought us to like a zoo or some other tourist attractions type thing and then out to lunch.
"Well then get out so I can get dressed." I said.
"Gladly." He turned around and left, slamming my door behind him.
He was so mature for a nineteen year old. Wise beyond his years that one is.
I put on a pair of black leggings with a gray sweater, and threw on some charcoal colored converse.
After brushing my teeth, washing my face, and putting makeup on, I went downstairs to the kitchen.
Mom was sitting at the table with a stack of paperwork. There must have been a ton of work to do, because I hadn't seen her working in Paris. Percy was sitting at the island with a huge stack of pancakes. His girlfriend, Melody, was perched on a stool with two pancakes. She was eating politely, where as Percy was wolfing his down.
