THIS IS MY FIRST TIME WRITING A FANFIC! YAY!

Enjoy reading my horrible writing!

I couldn't believe it.

Although Erica had said the Academy of Espionage's identity was compromised, I didn't think it would be closed for real. After all, the CIA was getting rid of all of their Agents-In-Training that they had been training for a long time. (Although I suspected the Cream of the Crop, A.K.A Erica, would be made an actual CIA agent.)

Everyone in the academy, including me, was being forced to pack my belongings and head back to their old homes. Every agent-in-training would be safe under the Federal Witness Protection Program, but I doubted it would work. If Murray could find my parents in Florida under that program, anyone evil organization that was capable enough could find all the agents they wanted and possibly corrupt them.

I never knew at this moment that I would be one of the agents that were going to be corrupted.

I sighed as a zipped my suitcase and headed out. I decided to say a little goodbye to a few of my close friends. The first one I approached was Mike.

Mike was my best friend even before we were in this academy, going back all the way to kindergarten. He was one of the kids that were athletic, good-looking, and smart at the same time. Of course, his puny brain was nothing compared to mine, but it was still smarter than most. This tended to attract lots of girls to him, and he seemed to enjoy it. I was never the popular kid, but seeing as I was dating the one and only Erica Hale, which, for reference, every boy in the school liked, I considered myself to be equal to God's son.

Mike flashed his trademark grin at me when he opened the door, but there was a slight hint of sadness on his face. We had been neighbors before this spying business, but after my parents got put under the Federal Witness Protection Program, I would be living in California, not Washington D.C.

"Hey man, what's up?" He asked with a clear ring of sadness in his voice.

"I just wanted to say goodbye to you. After all, it's most likely that I won't be seeing you in real life after this."

I instantly realized that this was something I shouldn't have said. Mike's mood drastically worsened, and although he tried to keep the smile, he was miserably failing.

With an awkward moment of silence, I said goodbye and went to visit Zoe. I decided to skip Jawa and Chip since I didn't want to get more waves of sadness again. But since Zoe was one of the girls (maybe, the only girl) that had a crush on me, I decided it was only right to go talk to her for a minute.

I knocked, and a familiar voice answered. "Hello? Who is this?"

"It's Ben."

"BEN!" Zoe screamed suddenly, then opened the door and lunged at me. I was experiencing even more awkwardness since she was doing this in the hallway. Which gave everyone a clear view of Zoe hugging me.

Zoe also seemed to realize this, and her face turned cherry red. She quickly pulled me into her room, then closed the door shut behind me.

"So, how's it going?" Zoe asked, in an unusually cheerful tone. I couldn't pick up on why she was in such a happy mood; we were all going back to our homes, and I would most likely never see her again unless she turned out to also live in California, which was highly unlikely.

"Uh, Zoe, mind if I ask, why are you in such an excited mood? I'm not sure if there's anything to be excited about here?"

"What do you mean?" Zoe responded. "I've just been selected as a field agent by the CIA! Assuming your skills and reputation, you've probably been too. So what's the dull mood for, Ben?"

My jaw instantly dropped. Zoe was selected as a field agent? Why was I not? I had the physical skills of a chimpanzee, but I was still awfully smart and had saved the world multiple times over. Why was I not selected?

My hate for the CIA instantly grew by an immense amount. I had been holding in my bad feelings about them since they provided horrible rooms and unedible food. Sure, I wouldn't want to be an agent accused as a flumbonian, but I just felt like going back to my parents was too normal for me.

Zoe instantly picked up on this, and the high energy within the room dropped by a mile, and there was now a worried voice Zoe.

"You're not an agent?" Zoe asked me. "Is the whole thing about the flumbonian issue?"

I nodded my head weakly. I had guessed as much within the past few seconds, but it was still hard to admit it.

"But why?" She inquired further. "You're literally the smartest guy out of the 99.99% of CIA agents out there. We could fight the conspiracy theorists over at the Truth, and the CIA could make immense use of you. After all, the world would be in shambles without you right now, Ben."

"I don't know Zoe, I've been thinking the same thing. I only thought that Erica would be selected as an agent," this was the most probable thing since she came from a long line of spies, and was pretty much the best spy in the CIA, excluding Cyrus Hale.

"Well, it was nice seeing you, Zoe. I hope your CIA career turns out well." I waved at her, then slowly exited her dorm.

"But Ben-" I cut her off in mid-sentence as I slammed the door in her face.

"Feeling great as usual, Ben. What's the matter?"

I jumped and practically shrieked like a cat that just saw a godzilla-sized mutant rat. Erica Hale was right behind me, and she had come without me even noticing, which was the usual, but I still couldn't get used to it.

"Well, since you're Erica, you probably already know this, but I'm not a field agent, but Zoe is. I don't know about Mike though, as I never heard anything about this from him."

For the first time in my life, (well, maybe not the first, but this was a rare moment in history) Erica looked shocked. I thought she would have already known this information by now since it was basically her hobby to break into the CIA database.

"You didn't already know?" I asked Erica, shocked myself.

"Yes, I didn't already know. The list of new CIA agents was me, Zoe, Chip, Jawa, Mike, and you, which is basically the whole gang. But looking at your reaction, your name was probably fake to make the rest of us think you were an agent, and not worry about you."

"Well, only the ones who hack the CIA database on a regular basis," I pointed out.

Erica sighed. "I guess so. But this sucks. I'd hate to break up."

I agreed with her inside my body. We had only been dating for a few months, much less a year, and I was already forcibly breaking up with the dreamgirl that every boy wanted to be with.

"Me too. But this is the way it goes for me, I guess."

"There's one solution to all of this, y'know, but it might be dangerous," Erica replied.

My mind sparked in interest. I could overcome some danger unless she was offering to do something illegal.

Which was exactly what she did.

"We can sneak you in and you can pretend you are an agent," Erica suggested.

Although I definitely wanted to never break up with Erica, but  I didn't want to break the law. Not now. Back then, I was regarded as a highly skilled agent, and I was forgiven because we had saved the world, but this time, I would be treated as a normal citizen. If the CIA found out, I could be charged more money than my parents could ever handle. Heck, I could even go to prison.

Agent Monke, you really need to pay me (YOU DIDN'T GIVE ME 3 MONTHS' WORTH OF MY PAYCHECK) and give me a raise since I'm narrating a depressing part of my life for your Wattpad views.

For now, Agent Ben Ripley, out.
