"Little fucking cunt."
Vance muttered.

"It's alright." Luna said, letting go of the pinball machine.

"God." Vance caught his breath
"What should we do now?" Luna asked.

"Beat the shit out of someone." Vance nodded
"Other than violence, Vance."

"I don't know. Eat?" Vance suggested, ruffling his hair.

Luna let go of the machine, stretching at her fingers.
She peeked at the sun, gaps of sunlight gleaming at the floor.

"Let's go on a walk."

"That's like—The last thing I wanna do right now." Vance said, making Luna chuckle.

"Yeah sorry you can't beat up the whole baseball team. Not today." Luna dragged Vance.

The two walked, their feet dragging against the wet grass.

Luna glanced along the town, seeing the baseball team at the field, practicing.

Bruce had a good grip.

The ball flew around, as Luna and Vance walked along the hill.

Luna sat against the tree, across the field.

Vance kneeled down, next to Luna.

Bruce glanced at Luna every few minutes.
"He's been so full of himself these days." Vance said.

"Mhm." Luna said, closing her eyes and leaning her head against the tree.

"God." Vance huffed

"I'm sure he means no harm." Luna said, glancing at Vance.

"You're too nice. It's stupid." Vance grunted

"Whatever you say." Luna shrugged

"This is nice. Isn't it? " Luna beamed a smile.

"It's okay." Vance blurted
"Just hot." Luna shrugged.

"My knees hurt."

"Let's go back." Luna said.

"Mhm." Vance said, standing up.
"I'll catch up. Just go home."

Vance left, Luna glanced over at Bruce.
She stood up, walking to the gate for a closer look.

Finney glanced over to her.
"Yo, that girl is staring at you." Finney said, looking to Bruce.

"Huh?" Bruce said. He looked up to Luna.

"Oh. I'll be back." Bruce said, he placed his bat down and jogged over to Luna.

"Luna." He said.

"Hm?" She curled a brow.

"Look I really wasn't implying anything bad I promise, I was just mad. I'm really sorry for these past few days and I didn't have any association with mark beating you up I swear. I just—"

"It's okay, Bruce." She said.

"Huh? It's okay?"

"Yes." Luna smiled.

"Oh." Bruce said.
Luna chuckled. She pat his shoulder and walked away.

Bruce let out a light smile.
He shook his fist gently and walked back to Finney.

Luna walked home.
She opened and closed the door.
She took off her cardigan as she walked to her room.

She placed the cardigan on the bed and walked over to Vance's room, to check on him.

Steps creaked as she stepped her heel on the weak, wooden tiles. She creaked the door open to see Vance sitting on his bed, counting quarters.

"Hi." She muttered, placing her hands on the sides of the doors.

"Hey." He said, looking up and back down.

Vance only counted quarters when he felt lonely or down.

In other words
When he's not okay.

He's done it a lot. It's concerned Luna. It's concerned Luna more than anyone else.

It's concerned Luna more than anyone else cause nobody else cared.

No one cared for Vance.
They've only blamed him. They blame him not knowing they're the cause to his issues.

"Are you okay..?" Luna muttered.
Vance sighed gently.

She walked to him and took a seat next to him.

"What happened, Vance?"

Then on, Vance rambled.
He rambled about how he feels crazy. Like a monster.

About how he's avoided so much.
About how he's tried to enjoy it but he never could.

Vance was still a child.
He knew he didn't deserve the treatment he got. And it infuriated him.

"I feel like an outcast. I feel like I'll never be noticed. I'm only known to beat other kids up.

I'll never be known as a human, will I? Just a ruthless and psychotic 15 year old.
The aggressive Vance Hopper.

It's like everyone knows me for the wrong things. I hate it, and I feel like I'll never be able to change it.

Why couldn't I have had a different life?
Why was I born into this one?
Cause I can't handle it.
Not anymore."

Lunas heart slowly broke, each sentence he said.

He's bottled up these feelings, he's never opened up like this to anyone, not even her.

She couldn't do anything.
She was shocked.

She couldn't do anything but hug him.
Give him a long hug.

He soaked into her arms.
He was slowly sinking into the hug.

The long, awaited hug.
The hug he never asked for. Not even to the one closest to him.
