I shake my head sniffling a little. "You're sweet" I mumble, earning myslef a confused smile.
"You're crying because I'm sweet?"
"Mhm" I say sniffling again, time like this I really wished I could control my tears. I'm sure my cheeks are red again.
They seem like they're always red around Connor.
He presses his lips together trying to stifle a smile.
"God I'm sorry" I say wiping under my eyes. "Thank you Connor, I say sincerely "For everything really, I don't remember much but I know you had a big role in getting me here so thank you."
He smiles again, amusement still in his eyes. He only nods.
"What time is it?" I ask suddenly, Connor checks his phone "12:30"
My eyes widened. "We missed almost all of school" I gasp suddenly realizing something "Connor" I say gripping his arm with alarm.
"You guys are missing school"
Connor looks at me with an expressionless face "And?"
"On no, you guys are missing so much because of me, you have to go at least you'll catch up to the last two lessons."
"Delilah" Connor says "I'm not going anywhere and I'm damn sure neither Liam or Mia will be leaving your side. Who cares about one day? We'll catch up, it's no big deal."
"You're more important" his voice going slightly low, the tips of his ears going red.
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. It's just a few lessons, that we can get notes from anyone, don't worry yourself too much, just rest."
"Okay" I say nodding.
"Rest"
I nod again, I lay back down and Connor pulls the blanket up. I snuggle deeper into the covers.
"Still okay?"
"Still okay" I confirm.
"Good" he says, smiling softly, "Now sleep I'll be here when you wake up."
Closing my eyes I feel myself drifting to sleep quickly, I fall asleep with a ghost of a touch, a hand caressing my hair.
It's probably just in my head I think before I'm lulled to sleep.

I wake up to the sound of several people arguing. I squeeze my eyes shut, startled by the piercing pain I feel from my head as well as the weakness I feel. It feels like there's a wall on my body holding me down, my whole body aches.
"Connor, we have to go. Look I get it, you think I don't want to stay here either? But Coach will kill us if we don't go. Our first game is Friday, what do you think Coach will say when the captain misses practice two days before our first game?"
"Coach can say whatever he wants. I am not leaving this room, missing one practice won't change anything." Connor counter backs anger and annoyment lacing his voice.
Liam groans in frustration "Mia help me out, will you."
They're all so engrossed in their discussion they dont notice that I've been watching them for the past minute.
Mia and Liam are standing side by side opposite Connor who is standing with his fists balled together, my brother stands farther away, his glare stuck on Connor.
Oh boy.
"Connor look" Mia starts "I understand you wanting to be here with her but do you think Delilah would be okay with you missing a practice this important."
