POKER GAME-000

April 10th, 1912

Southampton, England

Pacing in front of the pub, her brother and their friend were playing an intense game of poker; Evangeline, or Eve as she insisted on being called, Dawson was growing extremely impatient.

She's been outside the pub for an hour and a half, burning holes in the pavement while waiting for the game to finish. Sitting in front of her, docked on the peer of Southampton, England, was the new luxurious ocean liner, The RMS Titanic.

The enormous ship was built by the brilliant architect Thomas Andrews. Since Eve was ten or eleven, she had found her love for architecture and the ocean and had come to admire Mr. Andrews and his work on the Titanic and many other achievements.

Eve brushed a strand of blonde hair off her face, and a light breeze gusted over her as she stopped pacing. A loud whistle from Titanic sounded as she peered through the pub window. Her small, pale, slim hand lay against the glass as her blue, almost green eyes locked on her brother.

Jack's blue eyes meet hers, a twinkle of playfulness yet seriousness glimmering within them. In his large, pale hands were a few poker cards waiting to be placed on the table. Eve let out a puff of air from her mouth before entering the pub, weaving her way through the packed place and standing behind her friend.

The men of the pub shouted in protest against her, causing her to stick up her middle finger, which immediately silenced the men. Her hands clutched the back of her friend's chair; her knuckles turned white as she leaned down to hear their friend, Fabrizio De Rossi, speak.

"Jack, you are pazzo. You bet everything we have." Fabri says, his dark eyes glancing between the siblings. (Mad)

"When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose," Jack replied, leaning down slightly before straightening back up.

One of the men they were playing against muttered something in Swedish to his friend before Jack spoke again. He looked at the man on his right, a cigarette loosely hanging from his lips as he spoke.

"Sven?" The pair traded a card, Jack looked down at his deck before placing a card on the pile in front of him and picked another one up.

Eve anxiously watched as her brother placed his cigarette down and looked at Sven's friend sitting across from him. A woman stood behind the two Swedish men, her arms across her chest, watching the game come to a finish.

"All right, the moment of truth. Someone's life is about to change. Fabrizio?" Jack said, nodding towards his Italian friend.
