Case 2. Killer VS Killer: Chapter 25. Devil

"Cat..." Bai Yutang suddenly asked, "If Ben did not emphasize this part of the clue, and we simply investigated and dealt with WOLF, would you still suspect the school after finding members of WOLF at the academy?"

"No." Zhan Zhao shook his head. "We would have probably thought that the three missing students are advertising propaganda... We wouldn't have suspected the school."

"Captain." Wang Chao came out of the monitoring room and said, "Ben has something to say to you."

Bai Yutang and Zhan Zhao looked at each other, then headed into the investigation room.

When they entered, Bai Yutang saw that Ben no longer had the arrogance he displayed earlier. Instead, he looked somewhat dejected.

"Have you made up your mind?" Bai Yutang walked up to Ben and sat down.

"Yes." Ben nodded. "I will cooperate with you guys."

Bai Yutang looked at him for a moment. "Go on."

"Before I say anything, I'd like to talk to you for a bit," Ben said suddenly.

Bai Yutang was slightly stunned. Zhan Zhao, who was watching from behind the glass mirror, frowned and grinded his teeth. "He's still in the mood to chat?" Zhan Zhao thought to himself.

"What is it?" Bai Yutang closed the document and looked at Ben.

"In the past, I had wanted to be a good policeman as well." Ben said without emotion. "I was just an average kid. I worked hard by myself. Originally, I was in the army, but later I thought being a policeman was better... That's why I became a sheriff."

Bai Yutang listened quietly and did not interrupt.

"In the beginning, I was complacent. During those three years, I devoted all my enthusiasm to my work. I performed very well at the police station. Because I was excellent, I was transferred to the counter-terrorism unit... I did work that contributed to the citizens."

Bai Yutang recalled that he had seen Ben's records before. During the time when Ben was a policeman, his performance had indeed been excellent.

"However, after I was transferred to the counter-terrorism unit, everything felt different." Ben looked at Bai Yutang and said, "Karula is a bad guy, right? He set up a killer organization to do evil things... Leonard is a bad guy too, right? As a mafia leader, why is it wrong for me to capture them?"

Bai Yutang frowned slightly. The environment Ben had lived in was very complicated.

"Then why did you work with him?" Bai Yutang asked.

"I want to prove something," Ben replied. "If I succeeded, I would be able to trample on all the people who had looked down on me. I would be able to get everything I want!"

"Then why betray him now?" Bai Yutang asked. "Why not just continue with Wo Fu's plan?"

"I'm just a pawn." Ben smiled bitterly. "For the counter-terrorism force and for WOLF. I can be discarded whenever they want."

Everyone was outside listening to Ben speak. They glanced at each other, not knowing what to say. Zhao Hu frowned and tilted his head for a long time before asking, "What is he talking about?"
