I drop to the floor as the magic stops. I take a few deep breaths and use a tree to help me stand up. I get back to my feet and take a few seconds before flying closer to the enchanted lake
Carlos's POV
"Hurry!" I shout, running faster and faster towards the enchanted lake
"Carlos!" Evie calls. I turn to face her and see them all frozen in their places "You might want to see this"
I walk over to them, turning to look at what they were. I follow their gaze, looking above the trees. I shake my head as I notice it
"She wouldn't do this. Why would she do this?!" I snap, punching a nearby tree
"Carlos" Mal whispers, appearing from within the trees
"You're okay" Evie sighs, a large smile plastered on her face
"She's created a barrier. No one can get in or out" Mal tells us
"Surely you can do something" I beg her
"She has powers that are much stronger than mine... I don't think I'd be able-"
"Mal... please" I whisper "Please"
She sighs and looks at the ground before looking back at me and nodding
"She's one of my best friends" She says "Let's go"
We make our way over to the enchanted forest and stop when we come face to face with the red wall
"Are you sure you can do this" Evie asks. Mal nods and her eyes glow green. She puts her hands up towards the barrier and whispers something under her breath. She repeats it a couple of times before the barrier begins to crack
"You're nearly there, Mal!" I smile, squeezing my fists together. The barrier breaks open and I'm the first to run in
"Carlos!" Jay shouts. They all run after me, trying their hardest to keep up
Y/N's POV "Where are you!" I shout "Hey!"
"I'm over here" I turn to my right "Or maybe I'm over here" I turn to my left "Or maybe I'm everywhere at once" I look all around before I see a figure in the distance.
I conjure my magic and run towards the figure. However, as I arrive next to it, it's just a tree
"Show yourself!" I shout "You coward!"
"Y/N!" I quickly turn around and come face to face with Carlos
"Carlos?" I gasp "What are you doing here? How did you get here?" I run up to him and pull him into a hug. He hugs me back and I can feel his grip on me tighten
"I came here to get you" He whispers "And now... I've got you" His voice changes, causing me to look up. His eyes are glowing purple and a smirk forms on his face
"No..." I frown, pushing away "Get out of my boyfriends body!" I scream
"You'll have to get me out" He shrugs "Oh... but try not to hurt your little boyfriend"
A purple light flashes my way and before I know it, I'm being pinned against a tree. I fight against the force and raise my hand, blasting my magic at him. He falls back and a tear slips from my eye as I see Carlos on the floor
"Shit.." I mumble
"Language" I hear a voice whisper. I run to his side and smile
"Carlos?"
"Yeah?" He smiles, opening his eyes and looking at me
"I'm sorry..." I whisper, conjuring my magic and holding it up at him "Tell me something only Carlos would know..."
"Erm- For our anniversary... I got you a necklace with our combined name on" He says, quickly. I sigh with relief and pull him into a hug
"What're you doing here... alone" He frowns
"I wanted to protect you" I whisper, looking into his eyes
"Y/N..." Hs sighs "You don't need to protect me" He looks at the side of my face and wipes away some dirt
"Y/N!" A group of voices shout. I look to the side and get engulfed into a massive group hug
"Hey" I smile, hugging them back
"What the heck we're you thinking!" Mal frowns "You couldve been seriously hurt!"
"But she wasn't" Jay says, calming her down "And that's all that matters" He looks at me and nods so I give him a smile
"Why would you come running to help me by yourself" I sigh, looking at Carlos
"Because I love you, Y/N. I can't stand the idea of ever losing you" He states, looking into my eyes with every word he speaks
"You'll never lose me... I promise"
He smiles and places his index finger under my chin, pulling me into a gentle but passionate kiss. I smile into it but feel a hand on my shoulder
"Get a room" Jay jokes. We all laugh but it was quickly cut off when a purple light shoots in our direction
"No!" I scream. I jump in front of everyone and the magic makes contact with my head
