it's already our second anniversary. jake has already graduated from university with honours and is now working at a large firm. i'm so proud of him but it's always heart wrenching to see him exhausted after a long day of work. since he had to move out of the dorm after graduation, we decided to move into a small apartment together. i would say that life has been pretty, or should i say really, good. of course we have our fights, but we always make up.

just a few days, he came back past midnight after working overtime. i stayed up to wait for him and heard the door open.

"you're back" i said.
"mhm..." he replied drowsily. i could tell he had a rough day and decided not to ask more. i wrapped my arms around his hunched back, hoping to give him the support he needs. as he rested his head on my shoulder, my heart ached. he was working too hard. this anniversary, i would be the one to surprise him.

i woke up early at dawn on the big day. i whipped out a recipe and started to get down to work in attempt to bake a cake for him. after a long time, it was finally ready. i quickly decorated the cake as fast as i could. jake was going to be awake any time now.

i heard footsteps approaching and swiftly held the cake in my hands.

"happy anniversary!" i shouted as i plastered a kiss on jake's cheek.

"you made this? thank you love" he said before giving me a light peck.

we sat together at the coffee table and enjoyed the cake.

"thank you again, aera. sorry i haven't had the time to prepare anything, work has been really hectic." jake said as he rubbed his fingers over my hand, causing me to blush.

"it's nothing. i know how hard you have been working. thankfully it's your day off! you should have a good rest." i said.

"hmm... let's go out for dinner then!" jake suggested and i nodded in agreement.

"i love your rosy cheeks. you're so cute" he teased as he pinched my cheeks.

"i don't even have rosy cheeks..." i replied.

"huh? i clearly saw them on the day we shared an umbrella though" jake asked, confused.

"that's just me blushing..." i muttered and hid my face in my hands. i could feel my face heating up.
i felt a pair of hands pull mine away, only to be met with the most handsome man in the world -my boyfriend, my soulmate, my lover.

"so i can expect to see them more often?" he smirked, causing me to blush even harder. chuckling, he moved his face closer to mine until we were only inches apart. i could fell his breath hitting against mine.

"i love you aera. forever and ever" jake said sweetly.

"me too, jake. i love you" i replied with butterflies erupting in my stomach.
