After another hard day of training, I stop by the hospital to find Lacey and ask if she wants to hang out. I also plan on finding Connor. I've been really busy with training ever since they doubled our sessions so I haven't been able to spend a lot of time with them lately. The only time we get to really hang out with each other was during meals and after dinner, but it was never just the three of us like before.

I walk through the glass doors of the hospital and the receptionist gives me a warm smile.

"Hi Juliet! Looking for your mom or Lacey?" She asks me.

"Lacey," I answer her back.

"Okay she's in the 300s doing some quick runs with Doctor Stevens."

I thank her and walk down the familiar hall. I see Lacey emerge from one of the rooms with Dr. Stevens. She has a clipboard in her hands and her hair is tied in a its usual ponytail with a few strands hanging out. I hear Lacey mention a couple of things to the doctor that he seems very impressed by.

I know the situation isn't the best right now but I'm happy she still has the opportunity to follow her passion, probably more than she would have at home. Right now they're so short on doctors that if you can do the job, you're qualified. I bet I could become a doctor if I really wanted to.

"Hello Juliet," Dr. Stevens greets kindly.

I've seen him more than a couple of times from when I come here looking for Mom or Lacey that he knows me well along with a number of nurses.

"Can you handle the last patient Lacey? I have to get ready for an operation," he asks as he removes his rubber gloves.

"Yeah sure I'll take care of it," she assures him as Dr. Stevens rushes to get ready. Then she faces me with a smile. "Want to come with me?"

"Sure!" I reply happily.

I follow Lacey into the last room. There's only one patient inside laying on the hospital bed. It's a guy who doesn't look any older than twenty. He has scratches all over his body and a cast wrapped around his arm. He also has a bandage on his head.

"Hey Paul! How are you doing?" Lacey asks kindly.

"A lot better, thanks," Paul answers as he slowly props himself up. "Who's this with you?"

"Oh I'm Juliet," I introduce and I reach my hand out to shake his. "I'm Lacey's sister."

"Then you'll be very proud to know she's been taking great care of me. It's amazing how talented she is at such a young age," Paul tells me while Lacey goes around checking things.

She refills his IV and painkillers and then checks a couple of readings on the machine next to his bed. After that she examines his wounds.

"Lacey's an amazing girl," I agree with a wide smile.

"Aw thanks you guys," Lacey says sweetly. "Well you're all good Paul! Maybe a couple more days and you should be able to get released."

"Really? That's great!" Paul says happily as he begins to eat the food Lacey just gave him.

"Sure is! See you tomorrow!"

We wave goodbye to Paul and walk along the halls of the small hospital.

"What happened to Paul?" I ask Lacey as she takes care of some paperwork.

"Some accident on the field. They brought him in a couple of days ago. They had to perform some emergency surgery to stop some integral bleeding," Lacey answers. The way she responds and works with such ease makes me realize how mature she's getting.
