star: avoiding problems

For the first half of the day, he hid away in his room. Hilariously, he was terrified of bumping into his girl's tiny friend. But soon he came to the realisation that this was his house, and he wasn't going to tiptoe around anyone. The fact that he'd given her a roof over her head was gentlemanly enough. So, he proceeded to make coffee, rather loudly.

Diana's head curiously poked out from around the partition, her hair an absolute nest if he'd ever seen one, and one eye squinted closed. She was a mess and, annoyingly, it was sort of charming.

"Coffee?" she grunted, manically sniffing the air like a police dog.

He was only able to put together two words after being rendered speechless by her blushed morning hue.

"White or black?"

She screwed up her elfin face like he had offended her in some way.

"What am I, some nutcase? White of course."

Yet another thing they had in common. Mingyu would soon rather slam his head in a car door than be forced to drink black coffee. He couldn't understand how Satine stomached it, especially when the girl added a sprinkling of cornflakes to her sugar.

She dragged her feet across the room, scowling like the world was wronging her, and slumped down at the breakfast bar right across from him. Red cheeks and puffy eyes yet she still looked classically beautiful. Mingyu stared, as he often did with women, but swiftly looked away once she glanced up.

Now this was different... How had a woman made him so uneasy? It was usually the other way around.

"What?" he questioned as her eyes tore into him, it was uncomfortable being under the scrutiny of her glare.

He would soon realise that it was just her morning face.

"Hungry."

Great, so he was in the company of a starved woman - that never went well.

Sliding the mug across the counter, she caught it and held it to her mouth, breathily gulping the liquid down. That's when he took the opportunity to stare some more. Her skin was pale, but not so much that it became translucent under the light. Her appearance held a lot of warmth, similarly to her personality. It was her bronzed hair and soft round eyes. Mingyu found himself admiring them more often than he cared to admit; when they were all watching TV in the evenings or when they passed in the bathroom of a night.

Clutching the china like it was going to be snatched away at any moment, her hands were small and pretty - just like her - with bright red polish coating the tips of her nails. He found it peculiar, the way she accessorised with a colour so vividly associated with her best friend.

The two girls had been apart for so long, he wondered if it was a way of keeping her close.

"What have you done for food in the last two days I haven't been here?" His lips pulled into a quaint smile at her pouty expression. "I hope you didn't starve yourself."

"I, unfortunately, had to make my own breakfast."

He nodded, letting his eyebrows flicker with amusement. "Yeah, it does get pretty annoying."

Resting her dainty chin on her palm, she traced the outline to her mug. She blinked up at him a couple of times, trying to work out how anybody could be that attractive. His dark hair and tanned skin really did make him every woman's wet dream - not to mention the tattoo sleeve.

Diana had worked him out early on: he was introverted, and sex-obsessed (judging by the noises coming from his and Satine's room late at night). He drank whiskey like it was apple juice, frowned a lot, but also had the greatest smile known to man once you got him talking about music. He was passionate and proud of his art - and rightfully so. He was an incredible musician.
