star: it's a date

Start from the beginning

Both her hands were planted on the table.

Pursing his lips and leaning forward to rest his elbows, Mr Yoon pondered her suggestion. "And how do you suppose we do that?"

One of the men laughed and turned to him. "We need to be serious. This deal could change the whole prospect of our company and its values. You can't let some random woman decide the fate-"

Satine flinched as her boss suddenly poked in a number on the telephone next to him, all whilst looking at her. It seemed he too was getting increasingly agitated by the rude man who interrupted her.

"One moment, Miss Fontaine." Mr Yoon rested his head back in his chair.

They were in complete silence for two minutes until two large men in black suits stormed into the room.

"Ah gentleman, would you please remove Mr Andrews from the premises?" He phrased it casually like a question, but Satine could see right through his composure. It was an order.

"What?" The older man panicked as the men lifted him from his chair. "You're joking? I've worked here for almost twenty-five years!"

Mr Yoon had never looked so uninterested. "I was playing with rainbow blocks twenty-five years ago and yet I'm still more successful than you are. It says a lot, Greg." Satine covered her mouth to conceal her snort. "Your views are outdated and offensive and I will not stand for it. If you are truly so concerned with our company and its values, then you would know that any type of sexism or discrimination is unacceptable and thereby punishable by dismissal. It's nearly the twenty-first century for crying out loud..."

Satine held her thighs tightly together as he spoke so calmly - it wasn't a good time to be aroused.

"If anyone else has an objection to Miss Fontaine sharing her seemingly well-educated and thought-out opinion, you may leave also."

No one dared speak up once Mr Andrews was dragged from the room, yelling obscenities her way.

Satine cleared her throat. "As I was saying-"

"Come take a seat, Miss Fontaine," Mr Yoon cut her off, glancing towards the now empty chair beside him. She looked up cautiously, trying to work out if he was being serious or not, but once she saw his little wink she quickly scurried to sit down.

He pressed his lips together after noticing the little glow about her. All she wanted was a little recognition and he found it incredibly sweet.

"Go on," he encouraged.

She could get used to sitting there next to him; the power she felt was incomparable to anything she'd felt before. Even after spending her youth sitting in on her father's meetings.

"Broadstone is quite possibly one of the only companies that have a shot at surpassing us. That's why you want to buy them, right? Because their revenues matched ours last year?" Mr Yoon didn't like the reality, but he nodded, nonetheless. "It's a company dominated by males, just like ours. They're expecting you to be greedy and I'm sorry sir, but it will be a bad decision if you buy them out."

He knew exactly where it was heading and found it nearly impossible to catch his breath.

"How so?"

"They are your biggest competitor. Bankruptcy will be a close call and they know that. They're probably preparing for it as we speak. I'm suggesting that you go fifty: fifty. I say merge."

It was completely silent for ten seconds before yells of outrage burst through the room, just as Satine expected. They proved her point: greedy men are unable to settle and destined to lose everything because of their pride.
