"HEY..." TOMMY KNOCKED ON THE FRONT DOOR, his voice overpowering the rain coming down outside. twenty-four hours had passed, technically twenty-seven, but tommy wanted to give some time. "it's me- listen, uh- can we talk now?"

lorelei let her hand hover over the handle. she was ready to let tommy in, yet she hesitated. the past twenty seven hours lorelei has done nothing but lock herself in her room and overthink, but frankly lorelei felt at peace with herself.

so lorelei unlatched the lock and opened the wooden door.

"hey... thanks for - uh - opening the door. we can sit either out here or go inside. it's - huh - totally up to you."

tommy was soaking wet. his hair was damp, the normal locks of blonde were a shade of brown and was sticking to his forehead. his light blue club sunday sweater was a shade darker and his jeans were clinging to his legs. his shoes were muddy and created a small track on her porch. noticing lorelei looking at him, he spoke. "i ran here, - mhm - and i didn't notice the rain."
