THE NEXT DAY, LECTURES CONTINUED IN THE HIGH TOWER, which was no longer proving to be Allura's favourite location. She had been thankful for classes today, however, as she needed the distraction from impending doom. So far, she had yet to hear from Dain, but was still unsure on whether this was a good or bad omen. With Dain, it was always too hard to distinguish. But no matter the reaction, she knew it would flip their entanglement on its head. For, the prince was a jealous man, no matter how much he teased. And Allura knew that a kiss from his kin would rub all the more salt into the wound.
She was done for.
Since the gathering late last night, Allura didn't speak to a single soul.
She crawled onto a bench in the back from her peers and avoided the stares that seared into her skull. She thought of Jude and Locke, and how furious they must have been. But then she thought of Cardan; his lips pressed against hers, and a heat rose crimson to her cheeks. Thankfully, however, a breeze had chilled the High tower, or Allura would be finding herself rather hot and bothered.
