ICYMI: A History of the First Generation

Prologue - Message from the Author

Hello, MNLoves. After few weeks of waiting, we are happy to see you once again in the majestic corridors of M.N.L. University. Although it's a short vacation, we will make it promising for your stay in our campus grounds anytime you like.

We offer you the biggest surprise for P-Pop idols and fans this 2023. As part of our collaboration with Anvil Publishing, HalloHallo Entertainment (management of girl group MNL48) and ABS-CBN Star Magic, we will launch a new adventure in the MNL48 - Manuel Novicio Lacuesta University series.

The book is officially titled "I.C.Y.M.I: A History of the First Generation," an adventure drama novel based on the MNL48 documentary film by Carlo Francisco Manatad (director of the 2021 Locarno Film Festival awardee Kun Maupay Man It Panahon starring Daniel Padilla, Rans Rifol and Ms. Charo Santos-Concio).

The novel takes a year of writing, considering this is our biggest project to date. It follows the development of a culture that spans its course of cultural equality through generations.

The story takes place in 2123 C.E. and follows a group of ordinary students who become idols to realize the aspirations of modern Filipino individuals. It will officially premiere this February 2023 in celebration for MNL48's 5th anniversary and the 5th year of P-Pop's rise to new heights.

The story depicts present day issues such as talent management, labor, social media criticism, discrimination and prejudice towards groups etc. It also follows other issues such as age limit, abuse and dating restrictions.

Our heartfelt thanks to the people who show love and appreciation throughout the series. We appreciate your support in our adventures across M.N.L. University and beyond.

As we continue to explore the mysteries surrounding this school, let us relive stories of our daily lives and recount wonderful memories.
