SHE WAS UP with the sun in the morning, after an uneasy but not altogether restless sleep. Rapunzel figured the sooner she was, the sooner she could hit the road and find the tower and hopefully, it would fill in a few gaps of who she was, who Gothel had moulded her into, and who she was without her

In the morning, Rapunzel goes down to the main area of the tavern and inn, where she sat down at one of the cramped tables. The barkeep cast a glance at her bleary-eyed and hunched over as she scrubbed at the bar in front of her, despite being cramped the bar was remarkably well kept, unlike the Snugly Duckling back in Corona which Rapunzel wouldn't dare utter in front of her thug friends as they were just that her friends and Rapunzel would hate to backslide

Her heart squeezed once again with a sense of homesickness washed over her, but Rapunzel pushed it down again because now was not the time to feel homesick, she had come too far and she would keep going until she reached her destination because Rapunzel wanted to put her past behind her and this was the only way she knew how

"Here you are," The barkeep said placing a bowl of porridge on the table and Rapunzel nodded yet again, her shawl in place. This time held tighter with pins as she was around more people today Rapunzel had thought it was a good idea as it would help keep her identity a secret

Rapunzel ate her food slowly, the thick liquid gathered on her spoon and made it hard to swallow but she forced it down sensing that she would need her strength for the journey ahead. Her stomach rolled unsettlingly and bile layered it as nerves bit into her stomach...Why was she suddenly feeling anxious? She had known when she had started the journey to find where she had stayed for the first twenty-one years of her life and now she was panicking because it was proving to be as difficult as she believed

The abrupt opening of the door, shattered Rapunzel's anxious thoughts as her head swung in the door, just in time to see a young girl tumble through her. Blonde hair tangled and knotted and she looked wet as if she had fallen into some volume of water

Paying closer attention she was able to hear the young girl as she muttered to herself, making her way through the maze of tables in order to get to the bar where the barkeep was eyeing her with casual disdain as the young girl continued to drip on the wooden floors, leaving the young girl to let slip a curse that Rapunzel had never heard from a girl so young before "Fucking bastard of a pirate, I'll rescue you, I'll get you to safety. My ass"

Pirates? Had she naively wandered into a port town that pirates frequent? She really didn't know the way of the land.  She had been pretty much shielded from the coming and going of the Kingdom ever since she returned from her captivity in the tower, her father had been so overprotective he had guards trailing her where ever she went and it took so many months and years of begging and promises for her father to agree that she no longer needed guards

( A little persuasion on Eugene's part went a long way as well )

She watched under a curious gaze as the young girl slammed her fist down on the bar, the barkeeps jaw clenched and showed her growing irritation. The young girl didn't flinch as she returned the look and that's when Rapunzel decided to step in, if there was one thing the lost princess was good at: it was making friends and offering second chances

Rapunzel walked up to the two getting in between them, much to their irration and confusion on their faces was to go by, but Rapunzel didn't care as she kept a blinding smile on her face "Hi, um I was just wondering if you'd like dry clothes"

"I would be, but I don't really have much money left over in order to do that" The blonde responded rather codly and if she was honest the girl reminded Rapunzel of Cassandra, the young handmaiden that was assigned to Rapunzel

"That's why I'm offering you my room. I have a much larger space and a tub and basin for you to wash in if you'd like while you wait for your clothes to dry" Rapunzel said undetered about thee tone

"But why? You don't know me, I could be a murderer" The young girl said, still untrusting about the whole ordeal and while Rapunzel knew that technically that could be true but she'd always had a tendency to overlook people's flaws in order to see the people. Eugene had scoffed at her once and told her that wasn't the way the world worked until she reminded him that it was how they met

"You don't look like a murderer, are you a murderer?"

"That depends on who you ask"

"Well I don't think you are one and I'm offering up my room. That is if you want it"

Finally the young girl seemed to actually consider her offer and shruggered, but still the untrusting look in her eyes didn't go away all that much "'Suppose, I'm not going to find anyone else either naive or kind enough to let a stranger into their room"

"I will, one one condition: I must know you're name" Rapunzel said, knowing it'd be nicer for the both of them to call the girl by her name instead. Still the young girl looked untrusting, but eventually she sighed

"My name's Alice." She said eventually and Rapunzel grinned, Alice was such a pretty name and she wanted to tell the blonde as such but she knew that now wasn't the time as Alice was still untrusting and asking a million questions wouldn't make things any better

"Where are you from Alice?"

"I just returned from Wonderland"
