That one exception

Part 1

I grunted, I knew about the roommate, we all did Mini had spent nearly a week telling us about the woman he'd rented his spare room to and how they were friends with benefits, come to think of it he did go quiet on us a few months ago saying that the two of them had had a big fight but everything was back to normal a few days later. Evan elbowed me jolting me out of my thoughts, looking over at him he nodded towards the door.  Mini had just walked in looking tired, we got up and walked up behind him

"Sorry Sir the room was cancelled this afternoon...we already have someone occupying it" the receptionist apologized but her smile was slightly off.

"You're kidding me!...do you have anything else?" I saw Mini's shoulders slump as he spoke.

"I'm sorry but all of our rooms are taken"

Evan stepped forward and leant against the counter looking directly at Mini with his arms folded. I noticed Mini do a double take and fidget.

"Oh hey Evan...good to see you again man" he stepped forward to hug Evan who smiled and returned the gesture. 

"You too Mini...I overheard the problem you seem to have here" Evan waggled his thumb at the receptionist.

"yeah...I'm not sure what happened I checked the booking this morning before I finished packing" mini rubbed the back of his neck, his eyes quickly scanning the area spotting me he almost jumped into the desk behind him "Jesus Tyler!...are you trying to give he a heart attack?"

"Not yet...you scared of heights Mini?"

He looked at me confused then at Evan hoping to find some kind of answer for the weird question "umm" the moment he began talking I leant down and picked him up "nooooo oh my god Tyler put me down!" I heard Evan laugh as I stood up with Mini over my shoulder and started to walk to the elevator.

"Hey Evan grab his stuff would you?" I call over my shoulder as matter of factly as I can. I see Even grab Mini's bag and still smirking to himself he follows us to the elevator. We got a few weird looks and some fans pointed and laughed, one went as far as to yell "woohoo I love MiniCat" before running away with a bright red face. 

"ok Tyler I take the hint, now will you put me down please" Mini whined from behind my shoulder.

"Nope now be quiet back dare" I grumble playfully hearing Evan snort with laughter. A couple of minutes later we got to my room "Mini stop squirming I need to get the key out and I don't want to drop you"

"put me down then you idiot!" he was complaining but at the same time he stopped fidgeting.

I grabbed the key card from my pocket the three of us entered the room where I unceremoniously dumped mini onto the bed.  I thought I saw him wince but if he did he covered it quickly with a you're an asshole look.  Evan put the bag on the bed next to him.

"ok guys I'm gonna head to bed...play nice" Evan smirked and headed out the door.

"Night Ev' "Both Mini and I called out as the door closed behind him.

I turned and looked at Mini as he moved to the edge of the bed and got up "so you going to tell me?"

He looked over with a tired and confused expression "tell you what?"

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing" he looked down at his case and started unfastening it

"Liar"

He sighed and grabbed his wash bag "Tyler!...I'm tired can the interrogation wait till tomorrow please!" he fished some sweat pants and a t-shirt out of his bag and headed to the bathroom pausing in front of me for me to reply.

I watched him for a few seconds until he looked at me, there was a vacancy in his eyes that made me realise that he wasn't really in the room with me right now as if he was on autopilot "fine but I'm not letting this drop" he nodded and headed to the bathroom. I got changed and moved Mini's case onto the dresser before turning off the light and getting into bed. By the time Mini came out the bathroom I was bored and flicking through channels on the tv trying to find anything that might be interesting. Using the light from the TV Mini stumbled to the other side of the bed and climbed in mumbling something and almost instantly falling asleep. I fell asleep not long after, I assume it was from boredom rather than being tired because I woke up at 6am and couldn't fall asleep again, trying not to disturb Mini I got up, grabbed some clothes and then went and got a shower. Mini was had somehow cocooned himself in the sheets while I'd been in the shower all I could see was a bit of hair sticking out of one end. I scribbled a quick note telling him I'd gone to the diner down the street and that I'd bring back some breakfast for him, I then left and went for breakfast texting Nogla as I got into the elevator.  I met up with him, Evan and Brock and we walked down the street in silence trying to wake up.
