▪︎PROLOGUE▪︎

I breathed in the humid air that whipped into the car through the open window, I closed my eyes and stretched my back against the chair. I sighed as I fiddled with my hands that sat in my lap, I moved around in the chair uncomfortable as my gut had an eerie feeling. L

As the car came to a stop at a red light my friend next to me clapped her hands together with a soft smile on her face. "We're gonna be fine, two divorced besties moving to a different state, a new start!" She beamed in happiness or at least tried she had a sickening feeling still from what happened only a couple weeks ago. She shook her head and laughed a little to make herself feel better, she placed her hand on my thigh and squeezed with such gentleness. "Your okay now." She whispered, I don't know what she did but it made me feel more calmer as I looked up into her eyes, those brown eyes. E

"Your okay now." I placed my hand on her cheek and stared into her eyes, she became slightly red but I didn't think much of it thinking it's just the Texas heat. A

She chuckled as she turned back to the road just as it turned green. She had this constant smile on her lips almost showing her bright teeth. I never noticed that her hand was still on my bare thigh. T

I fell asleep somehow on our way to our new home, I haven't seen it but she has. H

I felt someone slightly shake my shoulder, I kept my eyes closed as I knew it was Olivia. She groaned and threw her head back in annoyance, I gave a small smile but quickly hid it. She laughed quietly to herself and grabbed both my shoulders and shook and I mean SHOOK. I jolted awake and smacked her arm, I looked her dead in the eyes and just stared, quiet, dead silent. She laughed smacking her chest. E

"You want to die?" I asked her trying to be as scary as I possibly can. She bent over and placed her hand on top of the car while the other was placed behind my head on the chairs head rest. R

"You want to get your ass up?" She asked, her minty breath invading my nostrils. I looked behind her and there it was a tall two story house that was painted a light yellow with white trimmings and a white roof, large windows and a beautiful glass and wooden door.  It would be an understatement that I was excited, I was so happy on how it looked. She saw my smile and smiled as she turned her head to face our new home. She stood upright and placed her hands on her hips she sighed happily as she walked towards the door. F

I stepped out of the car and closed the door, I jumped as I saw the car keys fly right at me, luckily it missed and hit the car instead of me. I looked up as I crouched down to pick up the keys, I saw her laughing hunched over hands on her stomach. I cursed under my breath while silently laughing to myself. I stood upright and swayed my hips as I walked towards her, her eyes darted down to my legs as the bottom of my dress softly touched my thighs. A

"Got a staring problem?" I lifted up my arms and tilted the top half of my body towards her. She laughed and shook her head turning towards the door and putting the house keys in the lock. She opened the door and the house looked just as good as the outside maybe even better. C

"I told you, I would pick out a good house." I didn't even say anything I just walked in and twirled in the center of the room, my dress twirled along side me. I stopped and closed my eyes and took a deep breath in. E

I slowly opened my eyes and turned my head towards her, I smiled so hard. "It's perfect." She dropped her head trying to hide her growing smile but I saw it, she always had such a pretty smile.

I clapped my hands together and she jumped slightly at the loud noise. "Time to unpack!" Olivia's eyes became dark but it quickly went away afterwards, I stared at her and tilted my head slightly. "You okay?"

"Yeah, yeah of course I am, just do we have to unpack right now?" She paused trying to think of an excuse. "Can't we just watch some TV right now and you know." She pointed towards the living room, I peered through the doorway and saw a nice comfy looking couch laying on the carpet flooring. The TV sitting on the wall with a coffee table in front of it, I could see my reflection in the blackened TV, Olivia standing behind me with her hands slowly placing themselves on my waist.

Olivia was always much stronger than me in many ways, she has a physic of athlete, granted she is one. She was always different though, nobody in school wanted to be around her because some rumours went around that she stalked this one girl that then killed themselves. I didn't believe the rumours, yes she liked them but she wouldn't stalk them, I know that much.

"You okay you seem lost in your thoughts?" She moved one of her hands from my waist and soon enough she had her thumb and pointer finger wrapped around my chin pulling my head towards her. I giggled at her antics and turned my whole body towards her, her hand on my waist gripping to my clothing firmly.

"I'm perfect." I smiled as I wiggled out of her strong hold on me.

"That you are..." I heard her mumble something but I shrugged it off. She brushed past me quick enough that the wind smacked me, I smiled and saw as she jumped onto the couch and grabbed the remote off from the coffee table. She turned on the TV and on came a very small puppy.

"This adorable puppy has sweeped the US nation off their feet." The news reporter spoke more about the young dog.

"A dog would be nice, or a cat!" I got excited and jump slightly up and down. So many ideas ran through my head, Olivia wrapped her arm around the top of the couch she look over her shoulder and gave me a knowing look. "A small black cat with bright green eyes, and, and his name can be Loki!" I clapped my hands together so excited of having a small animal running around. She shook her head and laughed.

"I'll think about it."
