Prologue 1.5: Becoming (PT. 2)

DING!

Coach Lawrence: "Not bad L/N, go a little faster next time." Coach Lawrence says while Y/N slowly slides down a rope.

It's gym class, and in today's lesson, the students had to climb a rope and hit a bell once they reached the top of the rope.

The only person left climbing was Toby, which left Jim and Y/N to do what they do best.

Motivate Toby.

Toby: "So... Close!"

Jim: "C'mon, Tobes! You've got this!"

Y/N: "Yeah, show 'em what that diet is all about!"

Coach Lawrence: "What is that on my rope?!" The coach pokes Toby. "I want all of my students to be made of iron! You've got to be kidding me."

Y/N turns to Jim to see him looking at Claire. She was watching something on her phone while laughing.

Jim turns back to Y/N. "So, Y/N..."

Y/N: "Hm?"

Jim: "Are you sure you don't like her?"

Y/N scoffs and was about to walk away until Jim steps in front of him.

Jim: "I just... Don't want something like this to ruin our friendship..." Y/N stops, sighs, and solemnly nods at Jim.

Y/N: "Don't worry, Jim, you're all good."

Jim winks. "Say less." He whispers as he approaches Claire.

Jim: "¡Buenos noches!"

Y/N facepalms.

Claire: "You speak Spanish?"

Jim: "Um..."

Y/N walks behind Jim to hear the conversation better when he notices Claire and Darcy waving at him while the other girl next to the two starts to cough.

Y/N cringes at her coughing fit but then slightly waves back at the two, causing Jim to frown.

Darcy: "C'mon Claire!" Claire and her two friends stand up to leave.

Jim: "Uh..."

Claire: "...Do you like Shakespeare?"

Jim looks confused. "Shake... Speare?"

Claire: "The school play," Claire grabs two pieces of paper. "We're having trouble getting boys to audition."

She hands both of them to Jim. "Give one to Y/N too, please." She gestures behind Jim. Jim turns to face Y/N to see him still pushing Toby to keep going.

Claire laughs. "He's a good friend." She leaves.

"...H-Hasta Huevo!" Jim yells out.

- Later -

Toby: "Ahhhhhhhh! So close!" Toby struggles to put on his socks as you and Jim examine the papers you received from Claire.

Y/N: "So, let me get this straight, she wants us to audition for the school play?"

Jim: "Yeah..."

You groan. "Ughhh, I'm not one for plays. But if I ignore it I'll seem like the bad guy." You facepalm as Toby chuckles.

Toby: "Did Jim even talk to her? Like, speak to her?"

Jim: "Yep, I unleashed my Español on her."

Toby: "Well, you guys should totally do it."

Jim: "What? The play? I'm not an actor."

Toby: "C'mon, you're always talking about how you want your life to be more exciting, and Y/N your life is just so boring."
