"why" arya asked

"so i may speak with saphira away from his ears, our kind has done much wrong saphira, and the problem is eragon is trying to decide what he should do should he embrace his lineage as an ardanian king, or should he keep up with what is expected of him here, and i am talking about in regards to you, there is a reason that the dragon king of ardania bent the knee, and it's not just honor, despite the kings words and actions, the thought of our kind serving his was something that did fancy the king, though he was much like eragon, he would never force any dragon into a submission, unlike say eragon however eragon's forefather was more then happy to make the dragon king remember who the master is, once the dragon king CHOSE to submit" umaroth said emphasizing the word chose

"are you saying the thought of controlling a dragon is something that eragon thirsts for" arya asked

"yes, and it is something that disturbs even himself, especially since in ardania, it is not only accepted but encouraged, in the end it's his oath to nasuada and more importantly his care for saphira that brought him back to alaegasia, many of his council myself included wanted a simple mission to steal the last egg, and the captured eldunari and then leave alaegasia to it's own devices, but there was also the problem known as shruiken" umaroth said

"are you telling me i should submit myself to eragon" saphira asked

"yes that is exactly what i am saying, however siphania is also a perfectly viable option, as i said, there are several reasons why you submitting would be beneficial, and not just to eragon to you as well, i should mention dragons are only loyal to their chosen riders, and or chosen lords, some of us go riderless, but still choose to swear an oath of fealty, most of the dragons of our old order swore oaths of fealty to eragon himself, and he actually uses that to his advantage as well, but anyway, saphira if you were to submit to him all of his doubt on weather or not what he is feeling is okay, even though everyone on his council including the dragons encourage him, in the end, however he cares about you and what you think most saphira, all of his doubt would disappear if you were to submit to him, and allow him to treat you how most dragons of ardania are treated, and he would finally step into his own" umaroth said

"how would this help saphira" arya asked

"well first things first, she would be blessed as i was blessed, and in that she would gain a lot of power, let me give you an example" umaroth said as i put his hand towards the sky

"bararaq" umaroth muttered as a blast of lightning shot forth from a magic circle from his hand

"the use of magic, we can use it at will" umaroth said much to the shock and awe of both arya and saphira who both knew it was previously impossible for dragons to use magic at will

"that is a basic lightning spell, saphira, all dragons have a unique ability known as a sacred art, you would unlock yours once we awaken you and that is just the start some dragons also go through a special pact, which further bonds them to their chosen master and makes the master in question much stronger in battle, but that is for eragon to decide ultimately if you choose to do as i have asked"

"notice the spells power, notice how i didn't take power from the land around me or myself, notice also i didn't use the ancient language, i have learned that is another thing we have been doing entirely wrong, magic, the alagaesian dragons still can't cast spells at will without being transformed, the spells of ardania are much more useful and more powerful, though there are more spells meant for harm in ardania then there should be there are also some very useful spells as well" umaroth said

"of course the use magic is just one gift, another as you can see is a humanoid form as i am certain you can attest to, our sizes as dragons is quite troublesome when we are bonded to a rider, but with this gift we can enjoy all of the humanoid things that are done as humans and when in human form should we eat, we have a human pallet and get full much easier we consume much less, mostly because we live off of mana mostly, we still need to eat, but we only need to eat humanoid amounts" umaroth said

"i can go on there are other gifts as well one receives, saphira, eragon will have you blessed weather you choose to submit to him or not, do not misunderstand, while i hope you choose to do so, he doesn't expect it he in fact expects the opposite of you, he thinks you will choose another rider from alaegasia, most likely an elf perhaps arya" umaroth said

"does he really think i would leave him" saphira said

"leave him no, however, our kind aren't protected by the laws of ardania, in fact we are as you saw treated quite poorly by our ardanian cousins, it is the protection of eragon as king that has allowed us to join the kingdom, he cannot face you however and rule ardania he will break, under the pressure of following your expectations and their expectations" umaroth said

"he's guilty" arya said

"yes, and it doesn't help that his half his council are masters proud masters, they subtly push eragon towards that path, knowing full well he himself desires it, and it has filled him with guilt and doubt, and again it is only because of his bond with saphira, saphira if you push him he will simply choose to take you and live in seclusion for the rest of his long life, and he will be miserable" umaroth warned
