Day after day | Jaeyong

Chapter 13

Taeyong gulped as he made his way to the daycare.

He was nervous. It was his first time "hanging out" with Jaehyun in a while. He fiddled with the end of his uniform as he neared the daycare. Inhaling deeply and releasing it before opening the door.

"Hey! Sorry I'm a little late-" Taeyong says as he takes a few steps into the room to be met with Jaehyun playing with both Sungchan and Mark.

"You cannot defeat me!"

"Yes can!" Sungchan shouts as he pokes Jaehyun with the sword as Mark tackles him causing Jaehyun to dramatically (and comically) fall to the ground. Taeyong watches them with a small smile on his face.

"You look cute when you're playing with the boys." Taeyong says as he crouches down on the ground while giggling.

"Are you ready to talk?" Taeyong asks before looking at the two toddlers.

"Alone?" He mouths and Jaehyun nods softly.

"I'll text my mom to come get Mark then." Jaehyun mouths back and Taeyong nods.

"Me wanna talk too!" Mark says as he sits up on his brothers stomach making Taeyong giggle.

"What do you want to talk about?"

"Spiderman!" Mark says as he starts to babble on about his favorite superhero. Only Sungchan was really listening though. Jaehyun was too busy staring at Taeyong while the older tried his best not to let his nerves take over as he fidgeted with the closest toy near him.

"Hey guys! Mark are you ready?" Mrs. Jung asks as she stands by the room door.

"Mama!" Mark shouts as he runs into his mom's embrace.

"I'll see you at home." Mrs. Jung says to Jaehyun as she gives him a knowing look and a smile of encouragement before leaving.

"Let's go then." Taeyong says as he gulps and gets Sungchan and his things to leave.

The three of them walk home in silence. It wasn't uncomfortable... but it wasn't the most comfortable either. The atmosphere was kind of thick as they finally reach Taeyong's house.

"Hey Sungchan, I'll be back in a bit. If you need anything tell Baekhyun okay?" Taeyong says as he leads Sungchan to the front door and the toddler nods before walking in.

"So where do you want to go?"

"The park?" Jaehyun suggests and Taeyong thinks for a second before nodding and the two walk in more deafening silence as they finally reach the park and sit on an open bench.

"I'm sorry." Taeyong says as he looks forward making Jaehyun tilt his head in confusion.

"For what?"

"For ignoring you..." Taeyong says as he starts to twiddle his thumbs making Jaehyun go quiet.

"It's okay-"

"No. It's not." Taeyong says as he finally turns to look at the younger.

"I completely ignored your feelings. You cried in front of me. I let you hug and... kiss me, and I left you hanging. I'm sorry." Taeyong says as he looks up, trying to hold back his tears.

"It's not all your fault Taeyong. If I wasn't such a jealous piece of shit we wouldn't have been in that mess." Jaehyun says and Taeyong looks at him confused.

"When I heard what you said to Doyoung. I'm not gonna lie. It hurt. Watching you get closer to him all this time, hurt. Taeyong I... I-I like you. So much. So so much." Jaehyun says as he looks the older in the eyes making Taeyong's lip quiver.
