They were innocent. They were pure. And most of all, they were friends.

"Jaeyun, who was that?" The older asked, appearing behind him.

"Just Riki." He answered back, shutting his phone off as he placed it back in his pocket.

"Ah, that kid. It's almost his turn right?"

Jaeyun nodded, helping the older with preparing for his stage. Fixing his hair and tidying his clothes.

Another musical competition is happening. This time, Heeseung wanted to win. To show the world what he's capable of. To show that he's going to be the best of the best.

Heeseung hummed a little tune while waiting backstage. Jake smiled as even without mumbling a single word, the older's angelic voice would still be noticeable by others.

"You'll do great. I promise." The younger reassured him, patting his shoulder as a gesture of saying 'goodluck'.

"Thanks.." He felt a bit nervous. Although it wasn't his first time performing as a school representative.

As the male let go of the younger's palm, he walked toward his best friend who looked at him from afar. Raising his right brow and crossing his arms.

"Heeseung hyung, Congratulations by the way!" Jake joyfully cheered. Quietly clapping his hands as he put on a sweet smile. While the older let out a sigh, not even satisfied with himself.

"Thank you, Jake.."

"Hey, second place is still good! You know I don't have the talent that you have." The younger stated, nudging the older.

"It's not that." Of course, Heeseung held himself back from snapping at Jaeyun. Seeing how he approached someone else instead of his best friend.

"You make me lose my mind, Jaeyun."

"Jaeyun!" Heeseung called out to his friend who seemed busy talking with others.

Something in him boiled up, though it quickly calmed down as he knew that a friend would also have other friends. There's nothing wrong with it.

Here we have the Sim Jaeyun. Also known as 'Jake'. Having everything he wanted. The top student of their class. If not, then their whole batch. Even got the girls and guys hooked around his finger. A total social butterfly. But he was a good kid. Keyword: was.

"Heeseung hyung!" Jake replied, leaving his other friends behind.

And there was Lee Heeseung. Always behind Jaeyun, like a shadow stuck to its owner. He always believed he was much better than the younger. He believed that he had more potential in this academy than the younger who does the bare minimum. Although, they were still the best of friends.

"You look happier than usual." The older stated, gently fixing the younger's bangs who doesn't seem to mind it.

"Aren't I always like this?" He let out a chuckle as he scratched the nape of his neck.

"Anyway, I wanted to ask if you want to hang out later. After class maybe?" Heeseung asked sheepishly making small gestures to convince the younger.

"Oh? Sure! We can go wherever you like." Jake gave a smile. About to tell the others until he was stopped by a hand around his wrist.

Heeseung went closer to him, whispering, "Don't invite them. I only want it to be the two of us. Together."

"Fine. Only because you're my best friend." Jaeyun stated, brushing the hand off of him. Walking side by side with the other, not caring if he's ditching his classmates.

I mean a pair of friends should spend time with each other. And only each other.

Because that's what true friends do.
