Kristen's p.o.v

I closed the door after Caleb offered to walk me to the front door. That was one of the most amazing nights of my life. "Are you blushing?" I heard Kayla speak out of nowhere. I looked over and saw her sitting on the couch on her phone. "You're still up?" I asked her and headed to the couch. "I wanted to hear all the details of your date. So, how was it?." she asked me and put away her phone. I flung myself down and leaned on her shoulder. "Caleb is amazing Kayla. " I stated and closed my eyes drifting off.

....

In the morning (3:07)

In the middle of the night, I arose out of bed and turn on the night lamp. Why can't I sleep?. I wonder if the bodyguards are still here?. I walked over to the room window and looked downstairs. About 5 of them were standing and looking around. Don't these people sleep?. I looked over at the bible that Kayla had bought me. It wouldn't hurt to read it, would it?. If I wanted to find out who I really was in God's eyes, I had to. I went and grabbed it then lay in bed turning to the first page. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" I read softly. "Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep and the spirit of God was hovering over the waters." I continued. "The spirit of God" I mumbled to myself and grabbed a pen along with a paper. And why is the word heavens pluralized?. I always thought there was one heaven. I jotted down a question and some notes. I read the other verses. This is quite an interesting book. After reading chapter 1, I closed the bible and lay on my back staring at the ceiling.

My mind suddenly went to Caleb. He seems to be serious about pursuing me. I feel as if I'm not good enough for him. I need to become a better woman if I were to ever be Caleb's partner for life. That will be one of my goals for this year. I smiled and rolled over grabbing my phone. It was now 3:45 am. I saw that I got a text message from a strange number. I sat up and opened it.

|So you think I've forgotten about our deal huh?. I'll let Caleb live, but as for you, I want you. In three weeks, I'll bring you to me. Don't worry about how that's gonna happen. And don't waste your precious time contacting the police because they work for me. Enjoy your last 30 days, I'll see you soon.|

I stared at the text I just read stunned to speak or even move.

Kayla's p.o.v

For the past couple of weeks, Whyet and I have been getting to know each other. He actually texted me the same day we met. He was such a nice guy. I've never really met anyone so honest, sweet, and caring. He has the funniest jokes and talking to him always ends in laughter. Today was our official and first date. It was a picnic date in the park and to my surprise, he also didn't like fancy dates. As I walked through the park, I looked around for a sign of whyet. I saw him waving his hand 4 feet away from me and returned a wave, making my way over to him.

As I approached him, I couldn't help but observe how well arranged and beautifully he prepared the picnic

"Hey. This looks amazing whyet" I told him and he stood up. "I actually had a little help. But I'm glad you love it" he laughed a little. I laughed and took a seat. He did the same. "You look astonishing Kayla" he complimented me and I blushed telling him thank you.

He started off by telling me more about himself and me the same. I realize that he always mentions God in our condos, but the had never directly told me he was a believer in Christ. "Do you believe in God?" I asked him and he stopped talking. "Yes, I do. I was actually saved at the age of 12. Why do you ask?" He asked me. "Because you carry yourself like a man of God," I told him and reached for the bunch of grapes. "I see. I get that a lot. To be honest, I believe one's life is meaningless without God. Those who don't know of him, their life most likely feels unfulfilled." He told me, deep in thought. He looked over at me. "What about you?" He asked, and it seemed to me he wanted all along to ask me. "I guess you can say I'm getting there" I laughed a little. "That doesn't sound right does it?" I asked him. "Mmm...I think I understand what you mean. Do you mean, you're strengthening your relationship with God?" He asked me. I nodded. Should I tell him my story?. "2 months ago, a Hindu man was sitting in the Café I work at. I could tell he wasn't from the area. I went and took his order, and I found it strange that he had the holy bible with him since he was a Hindu. He muttered something to himself while reading it. He said 'all other grounds are sinking sand, Christ is the only solid rock on which I can stand'. Then he looked up at me staring at him and closed the bible. He said 'young woman, do you believe in this God, the omniscient, omnipresent, holy, and righteous God that these Christians believe in?' and I said no. Then he said to me. 'The day you encounter the true and living God, your life will never be the same.' Then he left after eating, but he forgot his bible. I took it up and kept it because I never saw him again" I told him. "The day you encounter the true and living God your life will never be the same" Whyet repeated looking into my eyes. "That's powerful" he added. I nodded and continued. One week later I understood what he meant. In the newspaper, I saw that a large number of Hindus decided out of the blue to turn to worship Christ. It was the peak of the covid pandemic and so many people were dying. They came to the conclusion that their gods couldn't save them so they destroyed these idols they created and decided to give their life to Christ." I said looking out. "I saw that news too. It reminded me that not even the idols that man created on this earth can save them. There's only one true and living God, and although he's unseen, people do feel his presence, and it is only by faith in him that we can really believe that he's out there, he's all around us." He said. I nodded agreeing. Those events disturbed something within me! in a good way though. I felt that I wanted to experience him for myself. So I started reading the bible and it was so eye-opening. The knowledge in that book is impeccable. And I came upon a prayer of how we should pray. The Our Father prayer. That was the first time I prayed. Call me crazy but I felt as if God was right next tome" I laughed and he chuckled. "I believe you. That's a remarkable story, Kayla. As a matter of fact, I feel inspired. You should tell it to the world" he suggested. "When I get over my shyness" I laughed and he smiled.
