The fallen leaves fluttered along with the wind, rustling with each stride. Taking in the complexities of nature was really soothing. Their legs were throbbing from the long journey, practically bucking under the continual pressure. The (H/C)-ette examined the surroundings and noticed a rather large tree that provided enough shade for them to relax. They sat down after making their way close to it, resting their backs on the rugged bark. They only wanted a short rest, but they knew they couldn't. (Y/N) was called on business, so being late wasn't an option--and they were on the run.

The vague scent of smoke flew into (Y/N)'s nose, overfilling their senses. They stood up as they tried to locate where the smell was coming from. The leaves crushed beneath each footstep, as they began to follow the trail of smoke through the forest. After wondering for about a minute, their eyes locked with a trio. A trio standing in front of immense walls that seemed damaged from some sort of explosion. Sneaking behind them, (Y/N) got a better sight of what occurred inside the walls. Many people lay on the ground, injured from the detonation. The trio standing in front were unidentifiable, a shadow being cast upon them because of the lighting. Looking into the walls, (Y/N)'s (E/C) eyes exchanged glances with what seemed to be an injured fox. The fox didn't seem normal though, more of a fox-human hybrid. Standing upright was a male with fluffy brown hair that practically covered his eye. Scanning the scene, all of the people lying inside the wall had similar outfits to each other, maybe it was a uniform. Both the brunette and ravenette began to laugh, before the trio walked away, towards an unknown area.

As soon as the group left (Y/N)'s sight, they rushed over to the others, "Is everyone alright?!"

"Who are you?" The brown-haired male inquired sternly, his eyebrows quirking. The sight of the newcomer definitely intrigued him, but they couldn't risk another attack so soon. After all, it was suspicious that this stranger had shown up directly after an attack from ... who knows?

"Oh, apologies. My name's (Y/N). I'm uh... the one you sent the letter to." They smiled, rummaging through their coat pockets before pulling a crinkled envelope and presenting it to Wilbur.

Dear (Y/N),

It is in our highest regard to request for you visit our nation, in order to help serve and protect us from an unfair government. We understand if you are unable to make it, albeit fighting this unjust tyranny means a lot to this country.

Sincerely, Wilbur Soot

A blond teenager narrowed his eyes, "Why are you here?" (Y/N) scratched the back of their neck, opening their mouth to explain before Wilbur interrupted.

The brunette stepped forward, "It's alright, we can trust them." He turned to face (Y/N),

"Welcome to L'manberg. You'll make a great addition."

"L'manberg? What's that?" They asked, ruining the tension of the moment. Wilbur's eyes widened at my question. It seems he had expected me to already know about the 'nation' as they called it.

Wilbur awkwardly laughed, "You're joking right?" (Y/N) silently shook their head, keeping their eyes trained on the brunette.

"L'manberg is the greatest nation ever made! One that fights for freedom, has a well-knitted community, and-"

"Sells drugs." A blond cut in, slightly snickering at his own comment. A brunette beside him nudged him, grinning ear to ear.

Wilbur sighed, "And yeah. Sells drugs."

"Hey, if you want to win the war, you gotta know what you're fighting for." (Y/N) chuckled.

After a while of mindless chatter, (Y/N) zoned out, their gaze drifting away from the group. They quickly exchanged glances with someone who seemed isolated from the group.
