9th String: A Mission To Accomplish - 2nd Half

Start from the beginning

I barely even took a step before another vampire came rushing my way. This time, it was a female. Which makes it even more disgusting because there was a baby's head sticking out of her stomach. When pregnant females are turned, their babies will be too. Just for a few days though, because the baby will die after. Its organs are not yet fully formed, and the vampire's venom is just like an Adrenaline rush for babies. They don't really take the full effect, because it's not... right. Even an original vampire baby (if both or one of the baby's parents is a vamp) isn't a vampire when born. The vampire genes awaken when a child is at least 3 years of age. Which is why a turned baby never lives for long. It's really sad, actually. Not to mention disgusting. I felt bile at the back of my throat, which I quickly pushed down before I threw up in the middle of a fight.

I avoided a claw and jumped over her shoulder, careful to avoid the scary baby, and kicked the vampire's back. She stumbled forward, growling. When she turned around, I didn't give her a chance to throw another attack and threw a dagger through her head. When she started having a convulsion, I threw another, this time landing on the baby's forehead. I heard a deafening cry, and stumbled back. This is why I hate baby vampires! So noisy! Ugh!

(SFX: Growl)

When I heard a growl, I raised my head and looked around me. Only one word registered in my mind.

"Damn."

Oh no... I'm surrounded. It's that freaking baby's fault! Agh! I hate vampire children!

I looked around, trying to find a way out. Is there any spot here that I could at least exit from? Ah... If I don't find any, they'll be able to get close to me! Not that I can't kill them all, but it will attract top much unwanted attention. I mean, multiple vampire shrieks? No thanks. Even people in town would hear it. I can't have humans discovering my kind or we're toast.

"Dammit, any way out?!"

×Author's POV×

Leonel was fighting a Rogue, when he heard a really loud shriek coming from one part of the forest.

Natalie?!

He swung his dagger at the Rogues neck, and its head fell off silently. Perks of being a Ninja. He knows how to kill anyone without making a sound and attracting too much attention. Actually, everyone in the University was taught about it. Silent assassination, as the teacher's would call it.

Except Natalie.

His grip on his dagger tightened as he took off, running in hopes of finding her before she gets outnumbered. Vampires came from everywhere, and he had to cut a few heads before running again. He wished that Natalie would still be safe before he gets to her.

He jumped over tree roots, ducked to avoid being hit by Rogues who swing their fists, attempting to kill him using their overly sharp claws. He ran as fast as he could, faster than he would be even if someone was getting eaten by zombies.

Because he cared for her.

He doesn't necessarily love her, but he knew that one way or another, he would soon. That day when Natalie whispered something to him... on the first day, the way her hands held his whenever she would drag him somewhere... even if they'd just met. Hell, they haven't even known each other for a month! He knew there was... something. What that something was, he couldn't explain. All he knew was that being with her provided him with a sense of calm. That their skin touching brought a tingling sensation, and that every time she smiled at him, his stomach would contract, in a good way.

I guess this is what girls call... butterflies in the stomach...

He sounded so gay, but who cares? That was what it felt like. He just admitted it to himself though. He had a hard time, and maybe their little argument outside the barriers was what made him realize the fact that he liked her. And he knew he would never let her get hurt. Especially not by the hands of these filthy Rogues.
