Why do we continue to chase after things which may never be ours? When will we realize the value of the present if we are only concerned with the future?
What happens to the one who is afraid of not getting everything? The one that is not sure what happiness is or when it comes? How do you know you’re living in a happy world without a heartache?
Or what makes life worth living? When will we learn how to be selfish and be content? What is it all for if there's no hope for something more? I don't have an answer. All I can say is, life is like a dream, but every dream has an ending and every day brings another new beginning.
If our lives are to live like that, the question becomes what kind of dreams we wish to live by: whether it's the most pleasant one or one with more pain than joy. It is my duty as a student to teach myself about these dreams so that when they turn sour, I might be prepared to face them when they finally come true. In this case, it was not about being a student.
It was about not being able to give up. To me, it was about not knowing where that road leading to the goal would end and then starting over. In other words, it was not about giving up. There were too many things left to do before reaching the end: to finish high school, to work hard, to go on to graduate high school. And to those last two goals, I needed to reach them while still remaining alive.
