The hotel was silent, except for the occasional muffled talking she could hear when she passed by a door. Jamie ignored the sounds coming from those rooms, more focused on trying to keep her footsteps quiet.
She was wearing her hero outfit. A black sleeveless hooded shirt. She also wore black leather tights that were tucked into a pair of black combat boots. The only piece of color on her outfit was the umbrella that hung on her hip, it was a yellow ducky umbrella. It served to protect her from the sun and as a weapon to whack villains.
"Are you close to the room?" Her mentor's voice came in through the earpiece that she had in her right ear. She pushed up her circular glasses when they slipped down her nose, needing to see the numbers on the doors.
"Not yet." She whispered back.
Do you have enough Energy?" He asked her. Jamie stopped walking momentarily to pull her bangs in front of her brown eyes, it was blond, not her usual brown.
She nodded even though he couldn't see her. "Yes." She confirmed after a pause.
"All you need to do is take out the men guarding the room." He explained to her as she stopped in front of the room. Room 137. "I already took out all the people in the lobby. You just need to worry about them." He assured her. "Then we can come in and secure the stolen goods."
Jamie flexed her hands as she stood in front of the door, calming her racing heart. It was her first time fighting alone. But she needed to show that she could handle it.
Taking one final breath, she lifted her leg and kicked the door in. It opened with a loud slamming noise, the door smacking into the wall. A man stood up in surprise from the couch. But before he could do anything, Jamie raised her fist and thrust her whole arm forward, a kinda punching motion, releasing a solar beam out of her fist that collided with the man's chest. It knocked him back into the wall where he lay stunned.
She took the time to step into the room, surveying the area to see if there were any other threats.
The room she walked into was a small living room, only a small couch and a TV on the wall. There was a coffee table in front of the couch that had multiple rolled-up papers on top of it. There were also two doors, one being most likely a bedroom and the other a bathroom.
Jamie stopped surveying the room and looked back at the man. He was standing straight now, a large burnt patch on his shirt but otherwise unharmed. His fists were clenched, a glare on his face. His skin started to steam and a fog slowly started to fill the room.
Jamie frowned and rushed at him, not wanting the room to become completely clouded. She fired a beam at his feet that caused him to jump, losing his focus and provoking him to look down at his feet. When he looked back up, he ended up kissing the ducky on her umbrella as she smashed it into his face, her fist being planted on the side of his head when he got dazed from the first hit.
He crumbled on the floor, his eyes fluttering close. Jamie watched him for a moment, placing her umbrella back on her hip and making sure he was unconscious, before letting out a sigh of relief. But a scream and a bang behind her caused her to tense up again, then a flaming pain started on her exposed shoulder. She slightly got dizzy from the emotional rollercoaster of going from a relaxed state to a panicked state.
Jamie hissed as she turned around, her hand automatically coming up to her shoulder. A woman stood in one of the now open doors, a gun held in her wildly shaking hand. The woman stood in the bathroom, probably using it before hearing the commotion. She was shaking so badly that it revealed that this was the first time she had been in this situation.
Jamie raised her hands in surrender, ignoring the red liquid that went down her hand with the motion. "Hello.." She said, watching the woman's eyes dart from the man on the floor to her. She shifted nervously, the gun in her hand shaking wildly. "You stole quite a lot of things from that museum." Her eyes flickered from Jamie to the rolled-up papers on the table.
