"Babe please—"
"No don't 'babe' me we're too far past that point. You have one chance to tell me."
"I can't because Nancy—" as soon as Steve mentioned his ex girlfriends name Y/N was done with this conversation.
"So whatever is going on with you your ex girlfriend is allowed to know but not me? The girl you're dating?" Y/N was sad now she didn't want to be around Steve
"Are you seeing her again?" Y/N straight up asked, all Steve did was avoid contact with Y/N and that was enough for her, Y/N scoffed and walked out of the ice cream shop and just made her way to her car and drove away as fast as possible.
About a month had passed and Y/N still wasn't interested in speaking to Steve, she spent her time going to work and coming home and just going straight to her room. The day that she stormed out of Steve's work she went home in tears and broke down about everything to her mum who just consoled her, after about three weeks Y/N started to feel better and didn't really think of Steve that much. She still saw Robin quite frequent but would never go to her work if she was on the same shift as Steve.
Y/N was in her room one day with the door shut, this was one of the days that she did think about Steve and she got herself worked up and very upset, she has been crying for a little while when there was a knock on her bedroom door
"I'm not hungry mum I ate at work." Y/N said loudly thinking the person on the other side of the door was her mum but she couldn't have been more wrong, when the door opened she looked to the side and saw Steve standing in the frame
"No you can fuck off." Y/N said rather harshly
"Y/N please just listen to me." He said
"I mean it Steve, seriously fuck off I don't want to see you." Y/N spat but Steve was determined to sort things out so he walked into her room and closed the door behind him. He sat on Y/N bed and she moved away from him slightly
"I just need you to hear me out and then I'll leave." Steve said seriously
"I wasn't ignoring you Y/N or avoiding you I was protecting you."
"From what?" Y/N frowned because she didn't believe what he was saying
"Things have been going on in this town that you just wouldn't believe." Steve said and once he explained to Y/N what had been going on with The Mind Flayer, the Demodogs and everything else in between Y/N didn't know what to say.
"So when I came to your work and asked you about Nancy why didn't you just say that you weren't seeing her again? Why did you look so guilty?"
"You never gave me the chance to tell you, but I swear Y/N I wasn't seeing Nancy or anyone else while I was seeing you. I was only ever with Nancy when I was helping her with all this super natural shit." Steve said
"I've missed you this past month, not seeing you every day has killed me."
"Don't say that." Y/N sighed
"Why not?" He asked
"Because I've only just gotten over you and now you're here telling me all this." Y/N explained as she lied down in her bed facing away from Steve— he then lied down next to her and put his arms around her and pulled her close to him,
"I have missed you so much, I want to carry on seeing you." Steve whispered
"I have missed you too but I just don't know Steve. You lied to me and kept this massive secret how do I know you won't do it again, I just don't trust you anymore I'm sorry." Y/N said as she sat up and got off her bed and walked to her bedroom door
"I think you should go." Y/N said
"Y/N." Steve said sadly, she wiped her eyes very quickly and Steve walked over to her bedroom door
"Please." He begged and she sighed
"What's to stop you from lying to me again Steve? I used to think I knew everything about you but really I know absolutely nothing. Please just go I can't take this anymore." Y/N begged and Steve really didn't know what to do, he kissed Y/N on the lips lovingly and she almost gave into him when he went to put his hands on her waist and pull her close but she pulled away first,
"I can't just let you go Y/N." He begged
"All I can say is I'm sorry." He said
"I know you are, if the stuff that's going on really is still happening then just be safe and be careful." Y/N said
"That's just it, it's done now that's why I came here. I know it's been a month but I didn't want to tell you and get you involved I wanted to keep you safe and I thought that if I just stayed away until everything was over then that was my way of making sure you were okay." Steve explained,
"You promise me this will never happen again? The secrecy, cancelling plans all that stuff that you were doing before will stop." She said
"I promise you it will stop, everything that I told you about is over now and for good." Steve rushed out, Y/N bit her lip before hugging Steve who melted at her touch, he carried her over to her bed and peppered her with kisses.
"You're such a pain in the ass." Y/N laughed
"I really thought I was going to lose you." Steve mumbled as he held Y/N close to him
"You nearly did. Don't let it happen again Steve I mean it."
"Never again. I promise."
