Barry entered the building. He looked around as if she would magically appear

"Barry, just smile and relax. Don't embarrass us"

Barry looked around at the building. The organisers had all gone out he thought. Whoever had decorated the place had made it look magical. He looked around as something caught his eye. There in the corner, was a painting. He walked up to it, and stroked it

"Barry, look at this beautiful painting. It's magical. When you look at it, it feels like it transports you to another world. A world where it appears everything is magical and everyone accepts everyone. If only real life was like that"

"Barry"

Barry turned around

"Are you okay? You seem lost"

"No, I'm okay. Just.........."

"Just lost in the painting?"

"Yes. Something like that"

"Well it's a good thing that I'm here now. Let's dance"

"No, not yet"

"Why? Do you have a problem dancing with me?"

"No. Maybe later. I'm hungry", said Barry, rushing away

He sat down and put some food in front of him for show. It's not that he didn't like her, she was just a bit too full on, and didn't understand boundaries. Plus she thought that they were a thing, which was news to him, but apparently his dad had encouraged her and convinced her that Barry was interested but shy. He enjoyed her company but only as a friend. He had tried politely to let her down, but she wasn't getting the message. He was going to have to be cruel to be kind, which was something he didn't want to do. He started to eat the food in front of him

"Barry, I'm not being funny, but how do you rich people eat this weird stuff? Haven't you ever had normal food, like pizza or chips?"

Barry put down his food. Why was he thinking so much about her? He looked at the food and brushed it away. He wanted some real food. He quickly got out his phone and placed an order. Soon, he had some proper food in front of him. He was about to eat, when his parents rushed up to him

"What are you doing?"

"Having some food"

"But why this? Why not our normal food? The organisers went to a lot of trouble to make that"

"I'm sure that they did, but I prefer this. My eyes have been opened. This is so much better"

"This is because of her isn't it? She made you rebel against your own kind"

"Dad please", said Barry standing up, "I did what you wanted and left her. Please don't bring her into this. This is my choice. She just opened my eyes"

"When I find her, she will be in serious trouble"

"You will do no such thing. I gave her up for you. So please dad, don't touch her. She has done nothing wrong. Is it so wrong for you to believe that your son has his own choices and own life?"

"This is all her. You never spoke to me like this before"

"No dad. Before I was just under your rule. I did everything you wanted. You just can't accept the fact that I've grown up and won't do everything you ask. You can't handle it that I'm becoming my own person and want to make my own choices and decisions"

Caitlin was sitting at the back, listening to music and eating. The people that they had planned this party for had laid on quite a feast for them, to thank them for all their hard work. Suddenly Caitlin heard screaming and shouting

"Looks like the situation is getting out of control. We need to do something"

Caitlin called the security gaurds to see what was going on. She walked out with them, to the party. She got into the middle and watched as security broke it up

"Enough", she shouted, "we worked really hard to put this event on for you people. If you want to argue, please do it somewhere else. Please don't ruin our hard work and let the other people enjoy the party"

Caitlin was at home, getting ready for bed, when her phone rang. She put it on speaker as she finished taking off her makeup and jewellery

"That was quite a performance that you gave back there"

Caitlin froze. It couldn't be, could it? After everything, how dare he call her?

"Surprised to hear from me, aren't you? I'm just calling to tell you that I was amazed at everything that you did yesterday, and how you handled it"

"Why? You know very well how capable I am. How did you have the nerve, after what you did, to ring me?

"Caitlin, I ........."

"I don't want to hear it Barry. Please lose my number, like you lost me all those years ago"

Caitlin quickly hung up and threw her phone to the side. She quickly crawled into bed, and fell into a deep sleep, exhausted after the days events
