Saving The Game

The first game (part-1)

Virat went to the hotel and in mahi bhai's room, where he saw that rohit was sleeping and there was no sign of mahi bhai.
'He's sleeping at this time.' virat thought and shook his head at his best friend.
Then he saw a jug of water on the side table and smirked.
He picked up the jug, opened it and poured all the water on rohit who woke up with a jerk.

"It's raining." He said sitting up only to hear laughter of virat.
He opened his eyes properly to see virat standing there with an empty jug in his hands and not stopping his laughter.

"You jerk." Rohit said and stood up and started running after virat in the whole room.
"You can't catch me." Virat said smirking.

Mahi who had just come to his room to wake up rohit, was shocked to see two grown ups or maybe not, running around his room.
"Rohit, virat, not again." He said almost deciding to give up at this point. They were never going to become responsible.

"Mahi bhai you don't know what he did, he threw a whole jug of water at me." Rohit said stopping and going to mahi bhai.

"Cheeku, what was the point in this?" Mahi Bhai asked.
"He was sleeping, at this time." Virat said frowning. "who sleeps at 12 pm?"
"So what should I do? I had to wake up early because of you." Ro reminded him.

"Seriously, ro? Early? 8 am is not even that early. And i am pretty sure that you must have slept again as soon as I had left."
"I don't understand why does it bother you. I sleep, don't sleep, stop interfering." Ro snapped.

Suddenly vi hugged him. "I am your best friend, if i don't interfere, then who will?"
At first ro was reluctant, but then hugged vi back, smiling.
Mahi felt happy seeing them like this. He felt glad that they were such good friends.

"Common everyone has decided to watch a movie." Mahi said after they had parted from the hug.
That afternoon the team spend their time watching movie as they had practice in evening.

In the evening as everyone were doing warm up, mahi went to vi and said "from now on you are going to instruct everyone about what they should do in the sessions."
"Me?" Virat asked confused.
"Who's the new captain?"
Virat pointed at his self.
"So obviously yes."
"But what's the need?" Vi asked.
"It's important to start taking responsibilities from smaller level. And you know everyone right? So just go and give instructions."

Vi reluctantly nodded and after the warm up was over, he went to each and every player and started to talk with them. Mahi was glad that vi was doing the job so perfectly and everyone were responding so nicely. It wasn't feeling as though the captain has changed.

Some days passed and the first match arrived. Virat was nervous, but he tried to not show it.
As he was sitting in the bus, going to the stadium, mahi bhai came and sat beside him.
"Did you also feel nervous on your first day as captain?" Vi asked him.
"I did, when i was off the field, but when i entered the ground, everything looked right." Mahi said. "Once you enter the field, everything will look right to you too."
"But what if i fail?" Vi asked something that was going on in his mind the whole night. "What if we start to loose? What if we can't win anything?"
"I had also asked the same question to dada, and you know what he said?"
"What?"
"To win on the field, first you have to win from here." Mahi said pointing to vi's head. "You have to control that first. Believe in yourself. Don't he overconfident, but don't be under confident also. And like i have told you before cheeku, don't care about result. Okay, you want to win, great, that's your target, but now focus on what you can do to achieve your target. Focus on the process and see to it that whether you and your team is doing that right or not. If it's right, the result more often than not will be in your favour."

Vi hugged mahi and nodded. Then asked "you will be with me right? Always. You will guide me if i do something wrong, right?"
"I will." Mahi answered. "i will always be with you, and not only i, ro, sonu, yuvi and the whole team is with you. They and i, we all know how amazing you will be."

After talking to mahi bhai, vi felt a lot better. Whenever he had captained in the absence of mahi bhai, he didn't have much to worry about as he was there as substitute captain. There wasn't much pressure, but now he was officially the captain in all formats, and he was ready to prove his worth.

They soon reached the satdium and after sometime it was time for toss.
Vi won the toss and choose to bowl.
The team got ready and in half an hour, the game was about to start.
