Breanna's tears fell across her cheeks as the feeling of hopelessness overwhelmed her.

This isn't fair. How could I lose my job, my boyfriend, and home all in one day and on my birthday? She thought, pulling her childhood covers over her head.

She thought it was going to be the opportunity of a lifetime, one that would change her life for the better, but it was a trick, a farce.

The promotion turned out to be a pink slip on her desk while the other nurse, who didn't do half of the work, gained it.

The man whom she thought would be the one broke up with her for a woman who was half her age and body weight.

Since he was living with her, the guy didn't fork over his half of the rent this month. Breanna didn't have enough money to cover the entire thing, an eviction notice appeared.

With nowhere to go, Breanna swallowed her pride and asked her mother for a place to stay until she could get back on her feet.

Her mother was understanding and loving, even though she was struggling to keep a roof over her head, let alone food on the table.

She's a chef who recently got fired for some young hot shot chef straight out of cooking school but half of the salary.

But now, her mother had shrugged it off while making a business plan to buy herself a food truck.

Sighing, she laid on the pillow as mental exhaustion overcame her, trying to figure out her next move.

Who did I tick off in a past life?

As her eyelids fell, a thought crossed over Breanna that refilled her eyes with tears.

What am going to do?

----------------

"Your highness, it's time awaken," an unfamiliar voice said.

"Hmm, five more minutes, mom," Breanna grumbled, placing the pillow over her head.

"Your highness, wake up,"

"Huh?"

She focused her attention on the woman wearing Egyptian clothes and the makeup.

"Aaah!" she screamed while getting up from the bed.

"Pharaoh's daughter, are you alright?"

"Who the heck are you and what are you doing in my room!?" Breanna demanded, getting ready to deck this intruder.

"Your majesty, please be calm!"

"Who the heck are you?"

"I'm your handmaiden, Masika."

"Handmaiden? What type of game are you playing with me?"

"Please, your majesty, have mercy." Masika bowed with tears filling her eyes with fear.

Breanna looked to find an intimidating man topless man coming inside, holding a spear staring at the woman with suspicion.

What in the world is this!? She thought in fear.

"Is everything ok, your highness?" He asked.

She looked back and forth between the man and woman, sensing that her word was law.

"It's ok. I just had a nightmare, that's all," Breanna assured, feeling like a heel for making the woman cry.

I hope he buys it.
