The A Team by Ed Sheeran:
Backstory of the song:
I think it's important to start off on how the song was made. So there you have it. I'm still amazed he wrote it at 18 years old and it took him only 20 minutes.
For further reference about the title of the song, Ed Sheeran combined 'class A' which is a term used to describe a specific type of drugs with 'A team'.
I find that it's a truly beautiful and meaningful song that hides a painful reality. He didn't see her again after that and it makes anyone wonder what happened to the real Angel or what happened in her life for her to end up that way.
To be honest, I was hesitant (and still am) about using the song as the basis for the story because, first off, it kind of reveals the ending in advance. Secondly, I fear that my story might get too offtrack and won't correspond to the song anymore. If that becomes the case, I will continue writing it independently from the song.
Also, I've never went through the topics discussed in this story myself and so I really hope that I won't be unintentionally disrespectful to people who actually go through this.
Sometimes I wish I were able to feel people's hardships and truly understand them. It's one thing to learn about people's suffering and it's totally another to actually realise what that means. (I don't know if I'm making any sense)
I haven't written a realistic story before, all the stories I wrote or had the idea for, have some sort of supernatural element. I consider it way harder to captivate readers with plain reality than with mysterious parallel worlds. So, I don't exactly know where I'm going with this yet. Some humour and events might seem trivial at first but I find that they are necessary to make it more relatable and believable.
Please comment to tell me what you think :)
