"What was he doing there?"
I shrug. "I have no idea, he just came and I was gonna leave but then, shit happened."
I spare a look at Mike, wanting to search his face for what he's thinking right now. If maybe just like me, he finds it weird that I experienced this with my friend's ex.
But, if Mike really thinks that, he's not letting it show.
"Could kinda tell your story was incomplete." He nods then shifts even closer and starts looking at me expectantly, "So, what's the deal? What ability did you get and does it connect to him as well?"
I blow a breath and begin explaining everything to him. From that heavy feeling I got Thursday morning, to the constant waves of emotions I knew weren't mine, to realising that I was straight up in tune with Jeremiah's emotions when I started crying because he was, to meeting up with him Sunday and getting to know about his own weird ass ability of being in tune with my sense of smell and taste, and also feeling when I get hurt.
After I'm done, Mike just stands there, his mouth slightly agape, apparently still processing everything I just said.
"Shit," he says a few seconds later, coming to sit on his bed besides me.
"I know." I sigh, massaging my palm on my forehead.
"Yeah it's kinda like y'all soulmates or something."
I whip my head to face him. "Huh?"
He shifts away, holding up a defence. "Hey, obviously that's not the case since y'all only started feeling this way after getting abducted."
"It's just so weird isn't it?" I huff. "He's like, Peyton's ex."
"Why are you acting like you guys are fucking behind her back or something?" He scoffs but then, he narrows his eyes and shifts closer. "Or, are you?"
I glare at him. "No!"
"Okay so, relax. It's not like you guys did this on purpose or anything."
"Yeah."
"So, what's he feeling right now?"
"It comes in waves," I explain. "I think I feel him the strongest when he's like, really sad. Just a few moments ago, I think I felt him, it was light...he seems to be feeling okay I guess."
"So, it's kinda like you can feel what's inside and he can feel what's out."
I tilt my head. "Well, if you put it that way..."
"Okay, I'll try to do some research on this, maybe someone else has experienced it, you never know."
I nod. "Thanks Mike." I clasp my hands together as I look at him. "So, what do you think I should do?"
"What do you think?"
"I don't know, last week he was like we gotta communicate but like, wouldn't that make things more awkward?"
Mike rolls his eyes and stands up, walking over to his desk chair and sitting down.
"Bitch, the both of you are already in each other's business, like y'all literally in each other, it's already awkward."
"So what, what can we do about it?"
"As he said, communicate. You need to detach him away from being Peyton's ex for now. This got nothing to do with her," Mike says, turning on his computer. "You guys need to talk and figure this shit out."
He suddenly stands up from his chair and walks up to stand in front of me again. "Now, if he does anything funny, just tell me, okay?"
I nod slowly. Before he walks back to his desk, he looks back to me. "Also, I think it's best if you guys don't let Peyton know about y'all. Things are already awkward, the last thing you guys need is her drama."
