Mike frowns, any ounce of laughter leaving his facial features immediately. "Wait, you're actually being serious?"

I blow a breath. "Yes!"

Jenny gasps. "Oh my God Dee! Are you okay?"

I shrug. "That, I have no idea."

I hear Peyton scoff. When I look at her, she's giving me a disbelieving look. I was worried most about how her reaction would be, especially since she's so deep into believing that none of this is real.

"I swear Peyton, I'm telling the truth."

She snorts. "Okay Dee, you're getting really good at this."

I groan. "Bitch, I ain't playing right now!"

"How about you tell us what happened exactly?" Mike cuts in. "Why would you think you were abducted?"

I blow a breath, looking away from Peyton's disbelieving eyes to face Mike and Jenny. Mike has the same facial expression he has when he's reading UFO related news articles and that encourages me to go on.

"Okay, so it happened last night," I start, playing with my fingers. "I was in the woods at like 11:30-"

"Wait, by woods do you mean close to your backyard?" Mike cuts me off.

I shake my head, sheepish. "Um no, I was pretty much closer to Greek's avenue."

Mike gasps, mouth falling open dramatically. "Bitch are you serious?"

"Can I get back to the story now-"

"Girl, I can't believe you were really out in the woods in the middle of the night during an alien pandemic."

"That's not a grammatically correct term, dumbass," Peyton says.

"Veronica if you don't shut up right now!" Mike glares at her.

"Um, my name isn't Veronica."

"Then stop acting like one!"

"What does that even mean-"

"Guys!"

They all keep quiet.

"Can I please continue?"

Jenny nods encouragingly. "Yes, we're listening."

"I couldn't sleep, so I decided to go for a walk...not the best decision I admit but, I do this sometimes when I need to clear my head, I didn't really think things through and just did it."

To be honest, I'm just rambling out excuses at this point. Last night when I was out there, I didn't really see any problems with it but now that I really think about it, that was so stupid of me to go out during that time, especially considering everything that's been happening. I remember deciding to take that stroll and initially, I hadn't planned on going all the way to Greek's avenue, I don't know why but, I just kept on walking and walking until I found that open spot and I can't believe I really thought sitting there because I found the night sky pretty was a good idea.

"So, fast forward to Je-"

I cough the moment I almost say his name. I have decided on not mentioning Jeremiah. I don't need to add him to my story, especially since he's being indifferent about it.

"Um, I mean to say, everything was peaceful but then, I saw like this glowing ball coming towards us- me, coming towards me-"

Peyton starts laughing. I grit my teeth and turn to glare at her. Unlike the first round that Mike started, no one joins in. Jenny and Mike seem to have been intent on listening to me and they don't seem to be taking my words as a joke anymore.

"Peyton!" Jenny sends a look at our blonde haired friend.

Peyton tries to stop. "I'm sorry, it's just...a glowing ball? Seriously?"

"Dee, please go on. Ignore Veronica," Mike says, waving a disssmive hand at Peyton.

Peyton rolls her eyes at him. Although I am sort of disheartened at Peyton not taking me seriously, I am not surprised at all. I'd expected it but I'd hoped it wouldn't happen.

"It was like a white ball, it was glowing and it kept getting bigger as it got closer to me."

"Then what happened?" Jenny asks eagerly.

"I couldn't run away because I couldn't feel my body anymore, like I wasn't in control of it, and then a few seconds later, I fainted," I sigh, "When I woke up, it was already morning and I was back in my house, on the couch."

Everyone is silent for a couple seconds after I finish explaining. Mike's eyebrows are creased.

"Wait, how are you sure it wasn't just a dream?" he asks.

I shake my head and pull out my phone, turning the broken screen towards them.

"Damn, how did you get it broken like that?" Mike cringes.

"Exactly, I don't know. It wasn't like this last night though, I just saw it like this this morning so it definitely broke when I fell down or something," I say, looking to Peyton. "Remember those flats I ordered online?"

She nods slowly.

"Yeah I got them yesterday. So they were new and when I went out to the woods, I wore them. This morning when I checked them, there were like soil and small leaves underneath, meaning I did wear them and I was out last night, meaning what happened really did happen."

"Wow." Jenny places a palm over her mouth, soaking up the information I just laid on them.

Mike is biting his bottom lip, still thinking and Peyton isn't looking at me.

"You sure this isn't a prank?" she asks.

I lick my teeth. "Peyton I love you but if you ask me that one more time-"

"Take us there."

Everyone turns to face Mike.

"What?"

"The place this happened," he says, "take us there. There might be something there, maybe answers."

He's right.

"And if we go there and find nothing?" Peyton asks flatly.

Mike looks at me. "How about we leave her negative ass here?"

I sigh. "That is a very good idea."
