"Can I not hear another Alien story please?" Jenny pleads.
Mike lets out a little laugh. "Baby, it's what's happening in the world right now. Not wanting to hear about it, won't stop it from happening."
"I know but, I'm just not in the right mind space right now. I literally can't stomach another proof that our world is on the verge of ending."
Well yikes, in a few minutes, she's gonna have to be in the right mind space because when Peyton gets here, I'm dumping everything that happened last night (excluding the Jeremiah part) and I'm not gonna hold back.
As if on cue, my front door opens and Peyton jolts in.
"Sorry I'm late guys." She walks further into the room, blowing a breath before flopping on the arm chair adjacent to the couch. Her usually combed blonde hair is messy - and by messy, I mean a few strands are out of place but in Peyton's world, this is a huge mess. A mess she hasn't fixed yet, which means she must be really tired.
"Club meeting was so stressful today, nobody was cooperating with me."
"I'll go get the orange juice," I say, moving back to the kitchen. That was what I previously came here to do but I got lost in my head thinking about being abducted by aliens and also by Mike and Jenny's quarrel about the right rating for her horrible foreign mango chips.
"Oh and thanks for offering Jenny and I since we've been here for like an hour."
I shake my head. "Go eat ass, Mike."
"I'm not in the mood right now for that," he replies smugly. "Maybe when I get home."
I tsks. "And you call me the hoe."
After I've poured everybody glasses full of orange juice, I stand in front of them with my hands clasped, feeling so anxious now that the moment's here. The heaviness though is slowly subsiding, again.
Mike eyes me. "Okay I'm scared, what do you wanna tell us? Spit it out."
Peyton gives me a curious look, morphed with worry. "Dee, are you okay?"
"You know you can tell us anything, we'll listen and will support you no matter what," Jenny says softly and before I can tell her thank you, Mike mikes.
"Not so sure on the last part though but I'll listen for sure!"
Somehow, his nonchalance gives me the push I need.
"I think I got abducted by aliens."
The silence after I say that is deafening. They're all just frozen, even Mike and that gets me very, very worried.
When the silence is getting to a minute, I grit my teeth. "Guys, say something."
Then Mike starts laughing. Peyton still seems in shock at my news but she starts chuckling along with Mike and Jenny drops her drink on the middle table, looking like she wants to join in too.
I glare at all of them. "Guys, stop this. I'm being serious here."
"When will you give up?" Mike says in between laughs. "I keep telling you, you're not good at pulling pranks. You just don't have the coolness to pull it off."
"Wait Dee, did you call us over here so you can pull a prank?" Peyton seems to be trying to hide her annoyance. She would've probably preferred to go straight home and rest.
"Guys, Mr. Ogar went missing last week, I liked that old man. He was always nice to me everytime I entered his store," I say. "I'm heartbroken that he went messing. Trust me, making a joke about this, isn't something I'd do."
