"It's just I've been picking up on a lot of comments and they've been acting mad weird and secretive about a lot.." I said

"What do you think that it is that they're hiding?" He asked before I fiddled with my fingers

"I.. I think they did it, to get me back home." I admitted before he looked down

"They wouldn't do that to you."be told me

"The night it happened Mani was no where to be found, he told me he didn't want anyone else to bring me back home, but really he didn't want home early enough to find her myself-.." I ranted before my hands began shaking

"You're panicking again, tear your time." He told me before holding both of my hands and turning to face me

I nodded before taking a deep breath and I looked down.

"Chris j don't know what to do, I can't just ask them if they did it because what If they didn't ?" I said

"You just need more answers." He told me

"How? If they aren't going to answer them who can?" I asked

"New York, go back and trace your brother's tracks, sometimes if you can't get answers you have to go and find them." He said before I nodded

"I can't just up and go back to Brooklyn by myself.." I said

"You don't gotta go by yourself I got you." He told me

"I can't ask you to do that especially if it's not
Your problem." I said before he chuckled

"I'll be ready, just let me know when you are." He said before I looked up at him.

I quickly pulled him into a hug before he hesitantly hugged me back and we continued for a while.

I get where everybody is coming from and all about me and Chris. But if I had to choose between him and Janae, I would chose Janae.. I wouldn't want to lose my best friend over some shit like that.

A few hours later-

Once everybody sat down for dinner we prayed together before everybody ate in silence. I picked over my food for a while before my daddy called my name

"What's going on? You've been out of it all day..?" He asked before I looked up

I started to speak but dropped and Mani smacked his teeth
